Lawrence drivers seem to lack need for speed

You're surely not talking about Lawrence, KANSAS where people drive more like 10-20 mph OVER the speed limit on major streets and 70 mph on narrow residential streets where they're sure they won't be caught. Those people waiting at stop signs are probably too busy talking on their cell phones to pay attention to their driving. Perhaps you only venture out during rush hour, your spedometer is broken, or, as has already been suggested, there are some funny-smelling cigarettes involved.

Survey: Lawrence residents displeased with transportation

They spent $29,000 for that? I would gladly have told them the same thing for a lot less.

It wouldn't cost a lot of money to improve the timing of the traffic signals on 6th Street just west of City Hall. Once upon a time, if you made the first light at Massachusetts, you got right on through. Now you have to stop at each one and merging traffic from the bridge boggles things up terribly.

Rally steps up climate awareness

Perhaps when all of these "environmentalists" finish putting a stop to global warming, they could trim 0.2422 days off of the length of the year so we don't need to worry about leap years any more.

Kansans on No-Call List much re-register

The phone number given in the article doesn't work and the web site for confirmation isn't answering. That makes reregistration rather difficult.

Should the state designate English the official language?

Every time I try to vote in one of these polls, I get a statement that says, "We didn't record your vote because it wasn't valid." I've tried to call the JW four times now to find out why my vote isn't valid and they have never returned my call. Has anyone else had this experience?

'Dodos' to flock to campus for Darwin Day

Charles Darwin was born on Feb. 12. Why is "Darwin Day" being celebrated on the 7th?

Take Back the Night scheduled for Friday

HO HUM!
ANOTHER demonstration by a group of malcontents!

Do those people actually think that demonstrations do any good? Is anybody ever persuaded of anything because people make fools of themselves on Massachusetts Street - or are they just preaching to the choir? More likely they're just messing up traffic.

A parade isn't going to take anything back for anybody! Those people need to find something useful to do with their time!

Ex-official helps erect anti-evolution billboard

Why can't these idiots get it straight?

The second law of thermodynamics states that in any process the entropy change must be zero or greater than zero IN A CLOSED SYSTEM!!!!!! The earth is NOT a closed system, it's constantly suppied with fresh energy from the sun.

(Does this guy believe in ghosts, vampiers, Big Foot, and the Loch Ness monster too?)

Crossing guard returns waves in subdued way

She couldn't be nearly as distracting as the fools who dress up like Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty and wave at traffic on 23rd Street and Iowa Street.
