What is on your summer bucket list?
"Bucket list"-now that's an annoying term that should be allowed to fade away, die out, or !! kick the bucket!!!!
Why does everything have to be about lists, cramming in events, and so on? Plan a few things that are really important, then relax and enjoy whatever happens the rest of the time.

Pop quiz: Test your knowledge of Lawrence schools' origins
"The reverend", referring to a minister, is incorrect usage. Reverend is an adjective, used as a title, and correct usage would be The Reverend Mr. Cordley, or Reverend Richard Cordley. "The reverend" is not a respectful substitute for pastor or minister.

Family of missing baby Lisa Irwin calls for end of nightly vigils
The family certainly has a right to ask others not to trespass. No matter what we think of the baby's family, they have the right not to have people outside their door constantly. The entire family isn't under suspicion, and nobody has been charged. They also have the right to be presumed innocent unless charged and convicted. The group can pray anywhere. Perhaps they might refer to scripture about praying on street corners.

Are you going shopping on Black Friday?
Exactly! I'm sick of the pre-Christmas hysteria pre-Thanksgiving ads that promote commercialism. I've started emailing companies about how much I dislike these ads. Lounging is good!!!!

How would you grade Gov. Sam Brownback's first six months in office?
Not every Christian shares his beliefs. What I learned and what I try to live is a religion of caring, acceptance and compassion. And no, not everyone is a Christian. We need to respect the rights and beliefs of all people. I do not want his sick interpretation of Christ forced on anyone.

Kansans with disabilities could lose services because of state budget cuts
I think that the "final solution" may be on its way. This is how it starts, attacking those least able to defend themselves. As a defender of the least able during most of my life, I am horrified at the direction our society is going. I, too, wonder where he finds his religious inspiration. It is not in the Christianity that I believe and have studied.
