Letter: Campus litter
My dogs, Grandma, are on electric leashes and electric leashes are under our city and county law. We are friendly with the campus police who also know that we are on leash. Perhaps you should approach and confront all that you think concerns you.

Feds try to seize property tied to drug case
Where have I been over the past 60 years? Since when does the government have the right to loot the property and belongings to someone who has been arrested on charges of any kind?

Lawrence city leaders to ask Kansas legislators for increased speeding fines along K-10, new sales tax for Internet shoppers, SLT to be completed
To tax internet Buyers on top of increasing Shipping costs? That should be the end to the end of Internet Sales ... then someone needs to add tax to mail purchases from catalogue businesses (what is the difference?). My advice is to simply leave the People be and be thankful that they are "spending money" in your State. Learn to correctly use/spend what local and state income taxes that you receive already because when you increase then the Empoyers, increase and then increase keeps increasing by Renters, Business Owners, etc. as the bucks keep getting increased and kicked down the road to those who become poorer through your increases. Kansas and Lawrence can stop the nonsense and spend only what is in their pockets already.

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback names new corrections secretary
As a volunteer in both county and State jails my question is why did lgreen17 not give some advice on what she believes will promote individuals' status to prepare them for re entering society? I don't see very many volunteers, other than non secular ones who genuinely give to help incarcerated people with out selfish gain. Whatever they are doing, obviously is working...what's that old saying...if it aint broke don't fix it. Perhaps we should stand behind someone who is doing something positive for the community and let's wait and see if the results are evident as they certainly are not showing negative results thus far.

Brownback wins Republican nomination for Kansas governor
The crime is in the White House and this candidate will hopefully give Kansans the opportunity to vote to protect us from the O Health Care Bill as Missouri did to protect many from the crime of the Wahington over reachers.

Russell Robinson makes rounds of Lawrence charities to donate old gear to benefit others
oneeye_wilbur I hope that I am not picking up on a spirit of cynicism from you. It really does not matter what you think he may or may not do. You have missed the point here. A young man in his early 20's is "giving back to a community". This is good news and we do not read enough of this today from this generation, let alone the older generations.

Damaging dissent
So amusing! Most all who talk in these blogs have been suckered in by the almighty spin of the media. Not much truth is able to slip through the seams because you are eating from the table of the foolish.
Seriously, bloggers...get a life! No wonder I haven't been here for months. Not returning either.

'Absolutely big-time'
Congratulations Raiders. Job well done. Does anyone know how the Outlaws are doing? We keep reading the paper to find out how they are doing, like last summer. Perhaps Journal World doesn't do that any longer.
Go Lawrence!

No population bounce here
This city is crumbling from the inside out. Three liberals on the City Commission are making wide turns on this once wonderful community and firing long time faithful city employees who are not as liberal...sound familiar with the way the liberal agendas are moving around the country? Lawrence is way too liberal for it's own good and all the other similar communities in KS are conservative. (Kansas-a conservative state and Lawrence, the liberal community in the state.) Enough for me to entertain moving elsewhere but I will first attempt to change the way the commission currently looks do I have any company? If no change occurs I believe I will have plenty of company who will leave Lawrence even smaller. Please consider a huge change on the commission for starts. I have always believed that everything filters down from the top or the leader(s). Got to go to the top if you are not happy and demand changes. From a 50+ years resident of Lawrence.
P.S. Don't blame the city staff, blame the commissioners. Even the city staff have little to do with the library issue and nothing to do with round-abouts, etc...again directly upon the city commissions shoulders. Don't like it then show up at a few meetings and for heaven sakes find some responsible people to run for city commission.

Lions clip Cougars
Is there only one journalist who covers high school games in Lawrence? I ask because this game was a very good game to cover from my perspective. Too good to have to settle for two paragraphs. How about the defense? The hitters, runners, pitchers....who all did awesome work in this game. Kinda like, 3 double plays in the game for LHS. For the sport fans they would have enjoyed reading about the outstanding plays of this game.
