Her family filed a public civil lawsuit on her behalf. It is not typical for a civil lawsuit to be filed in cases involving alleged sexual assaults, as they are usually handled in criminal court where the state brings action.

It's proper. I am explaining more in the detailed version that should be posted soon, but the defense told me they are basically happy the judge enforced the plea agreement.
