Plan B? Todd Haley’s ‘Plan’ goes haywire

Although I don't see them on TV as much since I live out of state, this has to be one of the worst showings the Chiefs have ever put on in front of the home crowd.

I don't see Haley and his coaching staff much interested in winning. Even the players seem to shrug off losses as "we didn't execute". That excuse is wearing old. So is the excuse of "I didn't have them ready". In their glory days, the Chiefs took each loss very personally and very hard. They learned from them, and it paid off in SB4. Even pre-season losses were not well tolerated. Haley and his gang (players included), have had two losing pre-seasons thus far in his tenure. Their excuse is "we're evaluating talent". They are punchless on offense, a sieve on defense, and cannot afford even one turnover due to their inabilities.

It's been 41 seasons since 1969, and at the pace they're going, it'll be another 41+ before they see the SB again. I, for one, miss those days. This pathetic team shouldn't even wear Chiefs' colors.

Power restored to Westar Energy customers in south Lawrence after Thursday morning outage

You don't suppose that Westar is wanting to get a jump on the rationing electricity thing, do you?

Statehouse Live: Kansas House budget committee approves proposal to cut state employees' pay by 7.5 percent

I worked at KU for 6 years a long time ago. What I can tell you is that if you are a classified employee, you won't ever get the pay that you deserve. Ever.

My advice to you is to get out of there as soon as you possibly can. There is a much more rewarding job in the private sector, that pays much better and has better bennies.

Good luck.

Josh Selby a ‘luxury’ for KU basketball

Bullcr##, anyone recruited by KU is lucky to be afforded such a luxury. Remember, we are a national program on a national scale. We are currently #3 all time in wins, and soon to catch NC for the #2 spot.

How many points will Josh Selby score against USC?

Yeah, Kansas has put a lot of work into a one-and-done. I never thought I'd see the day when a national program like KU would become that desperate for players.

Em-Bear-rassing: Jayhawks routed, taunted in Waco

I grew up in Lawrence and lived there for 30 years. It really bothered me that the football program is nothing more than something to do until basketball starts. In all reality, why doesn't KU drop football, sink the expenses of the program into basketball, go independent, and keep the revenue? Every new coach who takes the KU job, goes there thinking that they will make a difference. They too, find out after a few seasons that it is a basketball school, and the commitment toward football is only words. If we have a good football team once in a while, that's great. If not, get a new coach and new uniforms. I suppose our shining moment for this year will be the GT victory.

Should Congress approve President Obama's request to restore the jobless benefits for 2 million people whose benefits are running out?

Get out and get a job? Good luck with that one! Especially with 4.7 hunters to every 1 job available out there.

Without a manufacturing base, there won't jobs out there, nor any created fast enough to keep up with the flood of jobless and school graduates looking.

An emotional exit: Teary-eyed Xavier Henry declares for 2010 NBA Draft

If he goes, let it be. The recruiting of him and his brother, and the way the family has treated KU since, doesn't merit getting upset over him leaving. In fact, IMHO, the way KU handled the situation when he threatened to pull out of his commitment was deplorable. I believe it soured the rest of the team a little bit. The chemistry this past season just wasn't there, otherwise they would have cut down the nets in Indy Monday night. I feel that he was catered to entirely too much.

Bye X, and thanks.

KU has offered Turner Gill the head football coaching job. Would this be a good hire for the Jayhawks?

And his daughter went to work in the athletic department a while back. Sorry fans, this whole thing stinks to high heaven. I wish him well, but I've seen excitement over a new coach turn into 4 seasons of 2-10, a firing, and the whole thing start over again.

Football is just a pastime 'til b-ball gets cranked up at Kansas.
