Sheriff's deputies and fire department train for disaster in drill at Douglas County Fairgrounds
Perhaps a better photo next time? 3 guys standing/sitting around shooting the breeze doesn't really give me the sense of "Preparedness".

Searchers recover body of Tonganoxie man, 30, from Lone Star Lake in southern Douglas County
My wife and I were onsite when this man went missing and we were active in the initial search for him with my wife diving several times to look for him. We didn't see any drinking. There were no whitecaps... there was no wind. The water couldn't have been more calm and the conditions more beautiful for a simple summer swim at the lake. He simply went under and did not come back up.... it happened just that quick. Enjoy each day people.... you never know what is going to happen. God bless his soul and his family and may he rest in peace!

Brownback says state is returning to feds $31.5 million health care reform grant
Folks... can't you see it? Sam is running for President in 2016. He is not governing a state... he is building a foundation with which to support his platform. He is creating the perfect right-wing candidate. He will have a record of fiscal conservation, small government, and state independence of federal controls. He will have been a businessman, a Senator, and an executive. He will be able to separate himself from his years in congress, having held true to his promise to only serve two terms. He is Pro Life. He is evangelical. He is everything the Republican base wants in a candidate and if Obama serves two terms, he will serve as a perfect contrast. This is one cold calculating scary S.O.B. ... Remember he ran once.... do you really think he is not going to try again? His time in Topeka is about him... not about us.

Polls close in Douglas County, results expected soon
Why do we have to have a separate municiple election? It seems like such a waste of money. If we combined the municiple election with the general election in November, we would get better turn out and save dollars. Just my thought.... I'm sure one of you will be happy to tell me why it won't work :-)

If you weren't scared of Brownback before.... you should be petrified now! Phil Kline? This guy just won't go away. He has been rejected time and time again....

Statehouse Live: PETA offers state budget help with anti-fishing sign
This is absolutely the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. "Let the Fish Live in Peace"..... what a joke. PETA... do you realize that the lake and the fish exist because of the conservation efforts and the license fees that are paid by those that use the park and fish in the lake? Are you really going to fork out enough money to replace that money source? What will you do when the lake becomes overpopulated and cannot sustain itself? Every been around a lake that reached maximum population?.... Dead fish everywhere... how did they die? starvation... Will you also provide an "old fish" section at the lake... somewhere an old Bass or Catfish can live out it's golden years?
LJWorld.... shame on you for giving this story attention.

Kivistos fall behind on donations pledged to Kansas Athletics
A degree is only as good as the person who holds it. It's value depends on what that person does with it.
