Legislators want to know if governor will provide funding for Lawrence SRS office

Merrill, if you are going to invoke the term "RINO" please at least use it correctly. The Governor is no "RINO."

And by definition, most RINO's are not supporters of the Governor, and weren't responsible for the SRS office decision.

Kansas couple killed in Las Vegas helicopter crash were celebrating

"Helicopter-crash trial lawyer Gary Robb said tour pilots are encouraged to push the aircraft's limits. "There is an incentive for the pilot to provide a 'flight thrill' to passengers," Robb said.

Hogwash. I have taken this tour, from this very operator (Sundance) and I am a pilot. I was pleased with the professionalism and safety procedures demonstrated by the company, our pilot, and the trip itself. There was no "pushing the aircraft's limits." At least in my case.

But helicopters have lots of moving parts. Maybe the preventative maintenance scheds and accident numbers for this type of aircraft need to be reviewed by the FAA.

Condolences to this couple and their family.

Rental code enforcement leaves much to be desired

These landlords pay too much for their properties with the belief they can endlessly carve out yet another bedroom and pack the students in, and still make a profit.

Rental code enforcement leaves much to be desired

I am pretty sure that this lady is one of those landlords who took over the Oread Neighborhood Association last year forcing out the actual residents of the neighborhood.

No wonder. These landlords are beyond belief. They know the rules about how many people can live in a house very well, and continue to openly violate it, and lie to the city about it. And -now- we learn the city totally ignores the enforcement anyhow when they are literally "given the goods" on the violations.

Brian Jimenez ought to have his fanny slapped hard, as well as the City Hall management that allows this situation....where Brian obviously does anything to avoid enforcing the rules against the landlords. It is inexcusable.

Fueling conflict

Stu gets an hour of Western Civ credit.

Tom Shewmon obviously never attended such a class, is a perfect example of what Stu wrote about, and doesn't even realize it.

New apartment project in Oread Neighborhood may lead to demolition of Varsity House

This isn't even apartments in the regular. The Fritzels are going to build smaller apartments, and more of them.

They have a request in to the city to double the density of the zoning for apartments for this and other areas of the Oread.

New apartment project in Oread Neighborhood may lead to demolition of Varsity House

Watch for them to convert the underground parking to uses by the Oread Hotel.

In which I look back at comments and look ahead to a milestone

"snarf vs snark"

Bronze was just trying to trying to 'be like hip with the lingo, man.' And it wasn't just a mis-type. He did it twice..

He ain't exactly a writer for the New Yorker.
