To all who say regulations and left leaning politics are to blame: look where Boulder is on that list. They have had very strict growth limits for 20 years, and just this winter approved their first Wal Mart. It's easy to blame City Hall, isn't it?

Letter: Shame on us
Against the first amendment? I assume you refer to the 'no law respecting the establishment of a religion or the free practice thereof" clause? "free practice" does not mean you are discriminated against because you are not allowed to impose your religious beliefs on others. Someone else getting an abortion or gays getting married does not affect your own religious beliefs or your right to have an abortion or not or get married or not, to whom you see fit.

Generally speaking, right wingers tend to be supportive of adhering to the Constitution and tend to be the ones against gun regulation. Do they not see the hypocrisy? The second amendment includes gun regulation. Its in the text: "well regulated.". Really. Its there. You can look it up. This is one amendment in which they write in a purpose statement explaining why they included it, and we ignore it.

City planners recommending denial of proposed Menard's store; Planning Commission to debate project Monday
Price Banks has the sense to call time-out on soth Iowa development 20 years ago. He was run out of town because he was viewed as an incompetent planner that was against development. The old WalMart sat there empty for years, and now Lawrence looks just like so many other suburban developments, with an overbuilt commercial hub that is tucked into one corner of the city. The planning staff tried to warn of the consequences but the naysayers of lawrence were too stupid to listen to sense and instead listened to dollars. Now look what you have. Long range decisions should be long range, and not at the whim of "this developer is here now and no other developer will ever come along if we say no."

GOP seeks to make state model for nation
Ever read the Constitution. Requiring swearing on the Bible is prohibited by the Constitution, which is why there is an option to say "affirm" instead of "swear.". Which means your assertion the bible is greater than the Constitution is a prima faci falsehood.

GOP seeks to make state model for nation
1st: Obama is not a socialist. The AHCA is forced capitalism not socialism.
2nd: Socialism has not failed everywhere it has been tried, unless you think Canada, Sweden, England are failed countries (which pretty much makes you a Xenophobe).
