Advance voting hours extended until 7 tonight; Lawrence City Commission election will go on as scheduled Tuesday
We met with USD 497 staff this afternoon and we have a plan to open the school polling places if they cancel tomorrow. Our plan will be to do our best to open all polling places on-time tomorrow. We will be updating our social media sites on facebook and twitter all morning with up-to-date information and will be sending the information to the media as it happens. It is my sincere hope that we can be open fully in the morning, please know that every effort with be made make it happen while still being safe for our poll workers. Numerous entities and volunteers are working to make sure the polling places are ready, we will communicate if there are challenges (which will most surely happen) in the morning.

Registration deadline for Aug. 7 primary is Tuesday
A couple of clarifications. A mailed registration is accepted if postmarked with this date, it does not need to be received via mail on this date. A citizen only needs to register if never registered to vote in our county or if they need to change address, party affiliation, name, etc. Voters do not need to re-register for the primary unles there have been changes to their status. A lot of voters are coming in thinking they need to re-register but they have not moved or want to make a change to their status.
The County Clerks office will be open until 7 p.m. tonight for in-person registration. People can also register to vote by faxing the completed form to 832-5192 or scanning completed form and attaching it to an email sent to elections@douglas-county.com If these registrations are received by midnight, they are valid. www.douglascountyelections.com has all the information you need regarding the multitude of registration avenues available today.
