Teachers, district reach tentative deal on pay

Do you typically lie for no reason or is it just about this?

Teachers, district reach tentative deal on pay

Oh the teachers don't leave on Wednesday early dismissal, the students do. I know it's very confusing, but the teachers are at the school longer hours than the students. They are contracted to be there for 8 whole hours, like most other jobs. Except most are there longer and still do work at home. Grade 150, five-page research papers, time yourself and then add that to the workday, oh and do it in a suit and high heels so people will believe you work hard.

City supports $12 million in incentives for Ninth, New Hampshire project

They should have to use Lawrence companies to build and not be able to lease out of the city, since the city is giving them incentives. We are always ready to help Compton, we should make sure he gives back.

Sound Off: In a crosswalk, when the red hand starts flashing and the seconds countdown begins, is it

Topeka's ordinance says: "Vehicular traffic facing a steady yellow signal shall stop before entering the nearest crosswalk at the intersection, or if none, at a clearly marked stop line, or if none, then before entering the intersection. Any driver of any vehicle who enters such crosswalk, or if none, such clearly marked stop line, or if none, such intersection, while facing a steady yellow signal and thereupon turns or proceeds through the intersection, during which time the signal changes to red prior to such vehicle completely clearing the intersection, shall be guilty of a yellow light violation.". TRAFFIC SIGNALS
YELLOW—A yellow signal light warns you that the red signal is about to appear. When you see the yellow light, you should stop, if you can do so safely. If you can't stop, look out for vehicles that may enter the intersection when the light changes.

You are correct, it's not illegal but if it turns red while in the intersection, it becomes illegal. I wonder why crosswalks are not treated the same way?

It's just like a yellow light for cars. You are not supposed to enter into the intersection when the light is yellow, but cars do. Just like pedestrians enter into the crosswalk when the hand is flashing. The crosswalks aren't that long, so run across when the hand is blinking, just like cars speed up when they see yellow lights.

Lawrence teachers, district at stalemate in salary negotiations

I thought part of the negotiations were for support staff. Either they got a much deserved raise last year or are in negotiations for it this year.

Town Talk: Rumblings that Freebirds Burritos coming to downtown; city finally set to hear appeal of 9th and N.H. project; new report estimate $11.8 M in incentives for project

Do not build that building. That seems so logical after all the breaks it's going to need to succeed. At the expense of everyone else Doug Compton makes more money? That is nonsensical.
