Speculation grows that Sam's Club wants to locate in new shopping center south of SLT

Costco pays and treats its employees much better than Walmart/Sam's Club. Costco employees would thus be in a better position to add to Lawrence's tax revenue, and would be less likely to need to rely on public assistance just to get by. I hope the planning commission and city commission will keep this in front-of-mind when considering whether to approve this development.

Davis picks Jill Docking as running mate

When Docking ran against Brownback in the 1996 Kansas Senate special election, she captured the highest percentage of the voters who identified themselves as Independents. If those Independent voters are unhappy with Brownback, Davis and Docking might well capture their votes on election day.
