Baldwin City man, 70, arrested for illegally shooting decoy deer in December

Currently, a KS hunting license is not needed by persons 65 and over - he would have needed a deer permit, though. Doe tags are not that expensive and a doe would be better eating anyway. Normally, these decoy's are made to look like borderline 'trophy bucks' so if they are wanting a deer for good meat, this wouldn't have been the one to shoot. Don't buy this ~ sorry!

Sound Off: Do Knology employees who drive their trucks to/from their homes to work have special perm

Had a family member who used to work for a utility company. They had super strict rules about parking their vehicles and one of them was that they were required to set out the cones around the vehicle. If their company vehicle was involved in more than X number of accidents (and it was a small number) during your entire employment, they could terminate you! And that included accidents that were not their fault!! For example, their truck being legaly parked and the driver not even being in it and another vehicle ran into it - counted against the employee!! Was really nuts! I just always assume there are some crazy rules like that!

'I'm still here': Tyshawn Taylor’s story marked by adversity

I will be the first to say that in the past years, I have got SO frustrated with TT - times I thought he should have sat on the bench - times I thought he should shut his mouth - times I thought I would scream if he made one more turnover - and on and on. But thru all of it there was something about this kid I just couldn't help but like - even when I wished I didn't!! I am so glad to see what a remarkable job TT has been doing and proud of what he has so far accomplished in his life. Goes to show you that it's a good thing that Coach Self is our coach - he saw all of these things in TT when many - or at times most - of us didn't! Thanks to TT and the whole Jayhawk team - it's been a great year so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of it!

CELEBR-EIGHT: Kansas clinches outright crown

Can't we just drop the references to Coach Williams?? I hated to see him go, but leaving KU for North Carolina and leaving KU for OSU is comparing apples to oranges!! I'm glad that Coach Williams is coaching what he feels is his dream job, and I'm thrilled that Coach Self is happy to stay at Kansas. If the time comes he should choose to leave, I will thank him and wish him well - I just hope that if that day comes, it will be a long, long time down the road!!!

City law interpretation spares lives of chickens slated for slaughter in public display of art

I don't see any way that slaughtering chickens can be called an art project. That being said, growing up on the farm, I have helped slaughter chickens, pigs and cows. I have also helped clean and process deer, squirrel, rabbit, turtle, and any other number of animals that have been hunted and fished by my family. It is part of life on a farm and I have no problem with it or with people eating meat. I am glad that the City stopped this, as I don't think somewhere in the middle of Lawrence is the proper place to do this - and certainly not in the name of art!!

Miserable ending: MU’s 11-0 end run dooms Jayhawks

Several comments in my mind. First, we had the opportunity to cinch this game and we didn't do it. You can't blame it on the officials because there were incorrect calls on both sides. Secondly, as far as playing MU again, IF we play them again, I think it needs to not happen for a while. MU are the ones who choose to leave the Big 12 - you can't have your cake and eat it to! Kim Mulkies quote still is one of my favorite ones pertaining to this situation. Third, IF we ever play MU again, I very strongly feel we should NEVER go to Columbia and play EVER again! If they want to someday play in a "nuetral" site, such as KC, I'm ok with that. Again, MU chose to leave the Big 12 and KU should stay true to their current feelings and NEVER set foot in Columbia again!!!!! And last but not least, do you know why golf courses in Missouri only have 14 holes????? Because MU never makes it to the final 4!!! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!

Talking Tim Tebow: Ex-Jayhawk Chris Harris happy to have quarterback on his side in Denver

Have to disagree with you. I listened to excerpts of a game where Tebow was miced up. He did say a pre-game prayer, but in his prayer was asking God for safety for all the players, good, hard play and IF they win that the glory should go to Him. Don't think that is at all asking for, or praying for God to help the Broncos win.
