Lawrence school district must seek city variance to finish construction of LHS scoreboard
just a thought its not about the subject of the sign it is the fact that the school district should be held to the same standards that all people are held to .. if my place of work tried to put up a sign or lights or what ever there is a due process that must be followed... that process is put in place to give time and a place for people to object to said item.. ie..... freedom of speech... Get REAL it is still AMERICA.. now my mom and brother graduated from there and i personally have no objections to a big lion professing the fact that it is a place of higher learning butttt.... there is a proper way to get what they want not just being a "sports bully" in the town.. again it is AMERICA so lets all be civil

In general, Americans exasperated over news of debt-limit deal
hey just a note from the younger crowd.... we too are not at all happy about the debt deal.. there should be no deals.. this problem should be taken care of now... if the country is busy taking care of last years debt then they may be to busy to see next years or the next ten years debt so get real america start spending the right way and be responsible about our debts so that our grandchildren wont be shorted in the future

Please explain
hey just a thought lets all quit throwing stones.... yes it was a stupid act.. just how many users of the SRS office have the means to access the places that will be required to now use the services..that we all pay for out of our taxes... yes my late wife was dependent on their services and yes even while she was using it it was far from being user friendly.. and now its obvious that the monetary savings will be in the services that they wont provide to this area simply because the people who need them won't be able to get to them... simple simple... no stones thrown... just an observation... and oh yea what ever happened to the homeless shelter that they were trying to move out of the center of town... won't the citizens that use it be farther away from the library and other means of accessing the SRS just a thought... stupid is as stupid does....

Volunteers needed to help clean Black Jack Battlefield for Park Day
RESPECT IS WHAT IS NEEDED.... YES IT WAS A BATTLE GROUND AND YES IT NEEDS TO BE MAINTAINED THAT BEING SAID WHY DONT YOU SHUT UP AND HELP OUT ITS ONLY FOR A DAY AND ITS A GOOD CAUSE... ITS OUR HISTORY OUR PAST.. IT WONT BE THERE FOR LONG UNLESS IT IS TAKEN CARE OF.. FUTHERMORE ITS A BEAUTIFUL SITE WELL WORTH THE DRIVE...AND NOT DESERVING OF THE IGNORANT REMARK.... FYI THE SITE WAS A HOME STEAD AND THEN THE CITY OF BALDWIN USED IT AS A CITY DUMP FOR MANY YEARS SO YESSSS THERE IS SOME CLEANING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND ALWAYS WILL NEED TO BE DONE... Nuclear power still a good option
just a thought ... just how much money is spent on out current power sources and do you think for one minute that they the current power supply doesn't want a new supply to become efficient. if that is the case then you are very wrong the current power supply has no interest in promoting another source of power especially one that is better.. they don't even want to research new power sources ... so i say get your heads out of the sand and face reality... we need new and better power sources.. and i mean clean sources not the big n.. its is dirty power ... maybe not now but longer term it's very dirty power.... lets wake up America...

Tragic results
i to realize that nuclear power is not the answer... did anyone forget that back in the early 1900's there were thousands of windmills powering water wells all across the us... and just why can we put a man on the moon but cant figure out how to put a cost effective battery in a car?? i m just saying that if we really wanted to do something like solar or wind power it could sure put a dent in the overall power grid.. by the way has anybody ever heard of the windy city Chicago or just how many days is it sunny in Arizona i don't know but just an option.. oh and by the way ethanol is also a great option just ask south america...

really.... i am an American and am very very tired of being asked if i speak a different language on the phone all the time and for them to ask her how she knew they were illegal aliens is in itself crazy... if it walks like a duck sounds like a duck and looks like a duck what must it be ???? we do have legal ways of coming into the country so why not try them... and yes i do believe there is a place for them in America just like the Irish, Jewish, Italians,,,, in fact all races that have come to this great place we call AMERICA thanks..w

Art is for all
face facts we ARE IN A RECESSION... just when will everybody realize this yes i believe art is important.. but not at the cost of schools or roads or the hundred other things that our state pays for.. oh yea i really mean we pay for.. and yes i paint and play the violin so i do see both sides of the coin.. especially when i drive down the streets and hit those pot holes or read about the stores downtown that are closing.. soooo wake up America lets start using money wisely ...and if there is some left over then yes lets do art...thanks w

Young Lawrence artists learn old art to help build gate for Black Jack site
stupid runs rampant, i suppose the civil war didn't happen either.. wake up this is history.. at least somebody out there is actually interested in teaching kids something useful not just how to make another phone call or text.. i was a volunteer at blackjack and also many other historical sites they are worth saving so keep your bad ideas to your self.. good people are out there doing good things lets promote them not try to drive them into the ground...
