How I came to live in Lawrence
Originally I came here for law school and then got a full time job in KC and moved there for a while. I then started working for a computer repair company here in Lawrence and thus moved back--eventually going out on my own. Now I clearly consider Lawrence my hometown and can't imagine living anywhere else
Affiliations
I'm on the board of the KU HIllel Foundation the Lawrence Apple Users Group 2.0., and Social media Club of Lawrence.
Hobbies
Computers, obviously and in particular Macintosh computers. Besides that I'm a total foodie. My three favorite things on a menu are local, organic and sustainable. Primarily I'm a vegetarian, but in reality I'm a flexitarian. I generally eat vegetarian unless I agree with the way the animal was raised and can trace it's source
Favorite Web sites
Because I write for them, I'm a big fan of TheAppleBlog (now part of Gigaom):
http://www.gigaom.com/apple
Of course I'll say i like my own business site for DoctorDave™ Computer Repair
Other sites I go to daily are LIfehacker (http://www.lifehacker.com) and The Consumerist (http://www.consumerist.com)
Favorite music
Fairly eclectic. I enjoy classical dance pop such as the Pet Shop Boys and Madonna as well as country music on occasion. Additionally I'll enjoy hard core industrial rock such as Nine Inch Nails and KMFDM. Finally, I listen to a wide variety of Israeli and Jewish music such as Dana International, Matisyahu, and Debbie Friedman.
Favorite books
I'm not an avid reader, but I tend to focus on business style books thanks to Audible.com. Probably my favorite book is "Linked" which examines the growth of human viruses, social interactions, google and social network and creates a unified theory of how information gets transferred. Think of it as the mathematical proof behind Malcom Gladwell's theories
Favorite TV shows
Anything SyFy General: The Stargate and Battlestar Galactica series as well as most of the grown up cartoon shows: Simpsons, Venture Brothers, South Park and Futurama.
Law and order is what I prefer for classic drama and for comedy I enjoy The Office and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Favorite movies
Run Lola Run. Hands Down. End Of Discussion.
