Cleanup continues after Lawrence hit with historic snowfall; several school districts close Thursday

It's very sad to see the negative comments on here. I believe the guys have done a wonderful job. They plowed our street this afternoon and we live on the Southeast side of town. The hubby got our mini van out of the driveway and down our street just fine this morning. No problems at all. These guys work their butts off!!!

Just fyi when you saw all the plows downtown, it was probably because they were hauling the snow off of Mass. My husband used to work for the street department and there were many times he would come home and tell me people would throw stuff at his truck or give him the middle finger when he plowed their road. Maybe if everyone had to do a 12 hour shift like these guys do, they wouldn't complain. It's not like removing snow from your driveway. Get off your high horse and show some respect to these hard working men and women.

Go-Karts, batting cages, mini-golf planned for new West Lawrence Family Fun Center; new info on high-speed Internet plans

I don't believe this has anything to do with Karlin and Hawkland Mini Golf and Family Fun Center. It's really sad if someone did steal his idea. I won't be doing busy there.

Winter storm forces cancellation of classes, events

Custodians still have to go in. Not everyone employed by the district gets a snow day.

Sound Off: FSHS cleaning

I may be a little biased on this one but obviously some are doing their jobs. The horror stories that I hear on a nightly basis, never cease to amaze me. I don't know how many stories I've heard where students have taken there bodily fluids and smeared them all over the bathrooms or other areas they don't belong. Or how many calls we've received at 2 am b/c the alarm is going off, the times we've been called at home b/c someone left the purse and really need it. It's not as easy a job as everyone thinks. Just like any job, there are people who don't really work hard and there are those who work their butts off day after day.

Take a few minutes to read the article and see how his co-workers feel about him. He's hard a working man and I appreciate all that he does for our family. http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2012/apr...

State orders Children's Playpen in Lawrence closed amid drug sale allegations

All home day cares are not bad. I have had the privilege of running a day care out of my home for 13 years. There are some good ones out there and parents need to do their homework. You can go only and find out if they have any complaints. Please, parents, check them out. Ask around. Over the years the only complaints I have received have been when parents terminated their contract and they still owed me money. Once they receive court papers they get on the phone and try to make a complaint. I then get a surprise inspection, for me not a big deal b/c I follow the regs to the tee! I've had this happen to me 3 times in 13 years. One couple still owes me over $700, another family $150 and the other paid up b/c the judge found in my favor. Most of us don't this for the money, we do it b/c that's what we love to do. I have never had to advertise, all of my clients are by word of mouth, from parents of child who have been in my care or still are in my care. My families love the care I give their children and they couldn't imagine having to take them somewhere else. Most of the children in my care, leave everyday kicking and screaming b/c they want to stay......so I must be doing something right.

Bring on your comments, I'm sure there will be some negative ones. I will continue to be an early childhood educator, I will continue my pursuit of my CDA and then move on to getting my associate in early childhood. I work very hard at what I do and most people couldn't walk in my shoes.

When online friends die: a goodbye to Multidisciplinary

So sad:( May she rest in peace. Wish I would of had the chance to meet here. Just the conversations we had on her and through pm, she seemed like a wonderful person. She was definitely one of the first who made me feel welcome on here. Sending a prayer up for her and her family.

In Plain Sight 6/2/2012 (Solved)

I had still been checking......you had me stumped. When I saw the second pic, I thought of Little Red Schoolhouse 7th and Alabama. I like your guess too, Nikki:) I don't know which it is, haven't had time to drive by either of them. Just really like seeing all the pics:) Thanks, Dave!!
