State officials say statehouse restoration has been closely monitored

Closely monitored my a$$. I was involved with this project and its an absolute joke how much money is being wasted. Everytime there is a change in legislators due to elections, this project grows in scope because changes have to be made to appease the new legislator. Leigslators are treating this restoration like it was their own personal house and not the peoples house and the statehouse architect is letting them get away with it cause he doesn't want to ruffle any feathers.
This is an extremely expensive project that needs to happen but there is much waste due to the egos and ignorance of the legislators calling the shots.

Prosecutors charge Roeder with murder in death of George Tiller

My moral compass says that to take a life is wrong...period! whether its the life of an abortion doctor or the life of the unborn...wrong is wrong. There is no moral or ethical justification for it in either situation, even though there are people on both side who would like to find reasons to justify both. wrong is wrong, and right is right, Even when its the tough, unpopular, inconvienent, hard to make or has far reaching long term implications.

Tell me this, if we are both hanging from a rope on the side of a mountain, and that rope begins to strain and break. When it becomes quite clear that the rope will only support the weight of one person, do I have the right to cut you loose so I can live? I say life is no more important that yours.

Again, I'll say to all, show me credible scientific evidence that life does not begin at conception and I'll become pro-abortion, until then I think I'll error on the side of caution.

Logic, please do me the courtesy of presenting one medical journal, medical text or doctor (one who's not making a living killing babies), that will state the life does not begin at conception. Good Luck

and still a little more for your reading enjoyment.

Dr. Watson A. Bowes, University of Colorado Medical School: "The beginning of a single human life is from a biological point of view a simple and straightforward matter—the beginning is conception. This straightforward biological fact should not be distorted to serve sociological, political, or economic goals."
Many other prominent scientists and physicians have likewise affirmed with certainty that human life begins at conception:
Ashley Montague, a geneticist and professor at Harvard and Rutgers, is unsympathetic to the prolife cause. Nevertheless, he affirms unequivocally, "The basic fact is simple: life begins not at birth, but conception."
Dr. Bernard Nathanson, internationally known obstetrician and gynecologist, was a cofounder of what is now the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL). He owned and operated what was at the time the largest abortion clinic in the western hemisphere. He was directly involved in over sixty thousand abortions.
Dr. Nathanson's study of developments in the science of fetology and his use of ultrasound to observe the unborn child in the womb led him to the conclusion that he had made a horrible mistake. Resigning from his lucrative position, Nathanson wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine that he was deeply troubled by his "increasing certainty that I had in fact presided over 60,000 deaths."

Logic...hows this for starters...keep in mind these are scientific experts.

A United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee invited experts to testify on the question of when life begins. All of the quotes from the following experts come directly from the official government record of their testimony.1

Dr. Alfred M. Bongioanni, professor of pediatrics and obstetrics at the University of Pennsylvania, stated:

"I have learned from my earliest medical education that human life begins at the time of conception.... I submit that human life is present throughout this entire sequence from conception to adulthood and that any interruption at any point throughout this time constitutes a termination of human life....

I am no more prepared to say that these early stages [of development in the womb] represent an incomplete human being than I would be to say that the child prior to the dramatic effects of not a human being. This is human life at every stage."

Dr. Jerome LeJeune, professor of genetics at the University of Descartes in Paris, was the discoverer of the chromosome pattern of Down syndrome. Dr. LeJeune testified to the Judiciary Subcommittee, "after fertilization has taken place a new human being has come into being." He stated that this "is no longer a matter of taste or opinion," and "not a metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental evidence." He added, "Each individual has a very neat beginning, at conception."

Professor Hymie Gordon, Mayo Clinic: "By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception."

Professor Micheline Matthews-Roth, Harvard University Medical School: "It is incorrect to say that biological data cannot be decisive.... It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception.... Our laws, one function of which is to help preserve the lives of our people, should be based on accurate scientific data."

I guess some people have a moral compass and know right from wrong and others choose and find it easier to scream "choice" when that compass points in an inconvienent or unpopular direction.

Logic...find me one credible medical text that says that Life doesn't begin at conception and then you can make an argument, until then abortion = murder. Science has proven that the human fetus, feels pain, has brain activity, has a decerable heart beat and for all intensive purposes is nothing more than a very small human being growning inside its mother. I dare you to take a look at a picture of an aborted child and tell me thats not a human being. If you can honestly look at a child who has been burned and torn limb from limb and not tell me its a child then you are as cold, selfish and heartless and those who commit the murders (Tiller & Roeder includeded!). Life is Life and should never be discarded friviously for the sake of convience or accomodation.

Authorities protecting Colorado doctor after Tiller killing

I certainly hope that the tax payers are not footing the bill for this, although my guess is we probably are.
How about this, if you are that flippin afraid of getting shot because of your profession, either carry a gun, a stick, a can of mace or something to defend yourself or get a different job. Just don't ask me to pay for your protection. No one is going to buy me a gun, so why should I have to pay for this clown's protection.
Bottom line is that if someone is hell bent on taking a shot at you, they are going to do it, regardless of the badge standing next to you.
Of course, maybe, just maybe they've uncovered a right wing nationwide terrorist plot...oh the possibilities are limitless...let your liberal minds run amok, I'm sure you will have it all figured out in a matter of a couple posts. I'm guessing somewhere in the mix you're gonna tell me that Fox News, Bill OReilly, George Bush and anyone else with a differing opinion is at fault. I can't wait to hear from all you lawrence-leftys...I'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation!

51-year-old man arrested in murder of George Tiller outside his church

With everyone so quick assign the "terrorist" moniker, here's some food for thought...
Where the french & german underground who fought the goverment sanctioned genocide of nazi germany terrorists?
Was Patrick Henry a terrorist for fighting to take Englands sovereign terrority away from them and make it his own...or any of the American Revolutionaries for that fact.
Are the confederate soliders who fought in the US civil ware terrorists? If so, why are they honored with their own cemetarys.
