McLouth student Justin Johnston shot, killed on school trip to Costa Rica; classmates returning to Kansas
Dear Cheeseburger,
Thank you for your kind words in this tense time for everyone. Should I have clarified that the problems my family encountered with EF came about after we had committed to the trip? My parents had put a substantial deposit on the trip and would not be able to get it back if my sister did not go. Money for us, at this time is tight and to loose that kind of money would really hurt. While a bit unhappy with the tour company, we had no idea that it could potentially be dangerous.
Yes, we should have taken more responsibility and checked out message boards related to the company before signing up. Yes, is a mistake on our part. Thank you for reminding us.
And thank you for your concern about my little sister.
Be well.

My sister was on that trip. I'm so worried about her. Costa Rica is actually a relatively safe country. Thats why its such a popular vacation destination. I blame the tour and the adults in charge of this group. My family has already had problems with this tour company, EF Tours. After investigating them more, we found out that this company is the one who brought Louise Woodward to the US an an au pair. She then shook a baby to death.
My advise, research the travel company you send your child off with and also look up where your kids will be staying.
I hope these people get (another) law suit.
