City helps resolve dispute over rural resident's target practice
I used to live 3 houses from Mr Cobb, honestly I never would have guessed that property wasn't within city limits. Being an avid hunter and target shooter, I'd like to remind Mr Cobb of the 10 rules of gun safety:
1. Always Keep The Muzzle Pointed In A Safe Direction
2. Firearms Should Be Unloaded When Not Actually In Use
3. Don't Rely On Your Gun's "Safety"
4. Be Sure Of Your Target And What's Beyond It
5. Use Correct Ammunition
6. If Your Gun Fails To Fire When The Trigger Is Pulled, Handle With Care!
7. Always Wear Eye And Ear Protection When Shooting
8. Be Sure The Barrel Is Clear Of Obstructions Before Shooting
9. Don't Alter Or Modify Your Gun, And Have Guns Serviced Regularly
10. Learn The Mechanical And Handling Characteristics Of The Firearm You Are Using
You are clearly ignoring 1 and 4 and are lucky all you ended up with is people asking you to stop. That is obviously not a safe place to be shooting anything larger than a pellet gun.

Kansas Supreme Court to hear appeal of man convicted of beating girlfriend to death
you beat your girlfriend with a table leg, how much does it really matter if there was any contrived negligence by a doctor trying to save her?! Go on your way now...

A loose ball rebound is suspended, between KU's Elijah Johnson, left, Conner Teahan, right and Purdu
They are actually both there. The first being the lead photo at the top and the second being the rider at the left. It took me a while to see that too. Maybe not the best layout.

Brownback and other governors have a beef with ‘pink slime' critics
You beat me to the exact comment I was going to make Gatekeeper. That's the thing that has me pissed off about this whole thing. I have the right to know what I am buying and eating. And I'd bet when given the option 100/100 would choose to not eat "lean textured beef".

From first hand knowledge, The ad department doesn't intentionally crank up the volume of the ads (in this case) it's really more of an issue of them not having the right equipment in house to encode the spots at the right levels to match up with the volume settings on each of the different channels. And this indeed did happen before the sale to knology. Dialnorm is a tricky thing to deal with. Now on the other hand, I agree completely that the issue needs to be worked on. I also know for a fact if there is a spot that is completely blown out all it takes is a call (well I guess it used to just take a call, not sure who you would call now) and the spot would be looked at and re-encoded with lower levels.

I switched to Uverse about 5 months ago. The DVR/guide is considerably better. From a whole home DVR standpoint i'd call it a 100% improvement. The picture quality is somewhat more compressed, and not as sharp though. That would be my only complaint. On the internet side I have no complaints, speed is good and the service is reliable.
Most of the reliability problems that you are seeing with Knologly, I feel stem from the fact that they have reduced their head end staff to the breaking point... Those poor guys are doing the best they can with what they were left with.
