KU student leaders pushing for consistent grade system
Regardless of whether or not a professor is up front about it (and most are) the point is that it is unfair for me to take ENGL 101 and the people next door taking a different section of ENGL 101 don't have to work as hard to receive the same grade.

Land swap between KU and Endowment Association gains committee approval
The lot behind the Wheel is already a zoned parking lot. It's for students who live in the Scholarship Halls. As a former Schol-Haller myself I wish the parking department would do a better job of enforcing those lots so people who go to the Hawk and the Wheel don't take the already very limited parking Scholarship Hall students have.

Teen pleads no contest to two August burglaries, sex crimes dropped
Wait. So are the second couple living 1950's TV lifestyle and have separate beds? Or was this kid brave enough to crawl in bed with a woman and her husband?

Town Talk: Plans for Rock Chalk Park sports complex in N.W. Lawrence, including amphitheater and future arena site; N.Y. hedge funds makes local industrial purchase, plus weekly land transfers
Hockey arena was my thought too. KU has a club hockey team that plans at the Topeka Expocentre I think. I know there at least used to be a place in Olathe. Pepsi Ice maybe? Then of course there is the ice rink at crown center during the winter.

Western Civilization class may no longer be required at KU
I for one, loved Western Civ. I learned a ton in the class and still consider it one of my favorite classes. With that in mind, I do agree that most people see the class as "wading through it," and those aren't he classes students should be taking.

Author of KU's first common book shares thoughts on writing, college, Kansas and more
http://commonbook.ku.edu/about.shtml
Here's a link to information about the common book program. I don't know that the book needs to be about Kansas, or have the author ever stepped foot in Kansas. I think it's about learning other perspectives and if we only have our students reading what Kansans think, then we won't have much discussion would we? Reading about a completely different culture, different experiences, and different view point other than your own or the ones around you is how you become a better person and learn. That's what this book is all about...
