Congressional redistricting plan advances that puts portion of Lawrence in 1st
Lawrence used to be smaller. 60 years ago it didn't extend west of campus nor much south of 23rd st. I don't know what the district was then but the majority of Lawrencians were Republicans and their votes influenced the shape of the district. Now the town is almost 6 times larger. The newer suburbs may have political sentiments that are not as liberal as the barinwashed whiners.
After Vietnam people started turning on and tuning out, then the town became more left.
Now I hear whining about "unfair". Life is not fair. Grownups have to work for what they get and they are tired of disrespect for the law and a power hungry government. Local/state votes matter. If you don't like it - move to Kalifornia or Greece... signed a recovering Democrat.

Lawrence man in fair condition after one-vehicle accident near bike ride route
I was on the bicycle ride. The driver was traveling north on E1600 road. His car left amazing long skid marks and took out a road sign after crossing the east/west N1000 road. The bicycle riders were traveling south alng E1600 rd and then turning east at the intersection. .I'm thankful that no riders were injured and I hope the driver never does that again!

Yes, there are clueless riders and impatient drivers. Personal consideration and responisbility took a hit a couple of generations ago.
Watch the Tour de France on VERSUS- it is fascinating.

State law allows 2 riders side by side. More than that is illegal. I do want to point out that often from the riders position they are actually either ahead or behind each other. If you could see the formation from above this would be apparant. From the vehicle dirvers seat it will look like they are all riding side by side. Also bicyclists riding together on country roads help each other along by riding close together. It is more efficent and more fun for the riders. Alert and responsible riders break down the formation when they see approaching vehicles.

Bicycle rider engines are typically about 1/3rd of a horsepower. How big is your motor in your car or truck? You sneer at bicycle riders but are you tough enough to do what they do?
Big talk,- little man. Life is too short to get impatient with riders that have a legal right to be on the road.
