City commissioner wants state to revoke nightclub's liquor license
I would generally concur with your sentiment, but Taste and Schumm hardly cater to the same clientele.. In fact, if asked, I'm sure Schumm would say he has absolutely no interest in 'stealing' clientele from Taste for his own joint.

Planning Commission recommends approval of Menards store for south Lawrence
'Then please don't make the argument that big box stores increase choice, or jobs or tax collections.'
They do - all three. Why don't you just admit that you're anti-growth and leave it at that?

Missouri man dies of injuries after Saturday motorcycle accident
Apparently I'm not the only one that found the story absent for part of the day:

This accident happened late Friday, I read it on the web site this morning. When a relative expressed interest in seeing it, I went back to the web site to fwd it to him, only to find it had been taken off both the news and local news sections on the day it came out. How come so quickly? Usually these stories stay up for a few days. Thank goodness it qualified as one of the 'most discussed' items, because that's where I eventually had to go to find it. I suggest these items stay up at least a couple of days, I try to visit the web site daily but sometimes can't always do it.
