Do you have a system for cleaning your house?

I invite my parents over for a visit and then clean like crazy during the hour before they arrive.

Off-duty deputy kills 6 at party before being shot by authorities

I take exception to your statement, Ragingbear. My grandfather was a career police officer on the KCMO police department. He led an exemplary life, both professionally and personally, and despite serving during a very turbulent period in Kansas City (60's and 70's), he was one of the kindest, most down-to-earth and level-headed persons I have ever known. I feel certain he was not the only one of his kind. I am very proud of him.

Do you have a tattoo, and if so, what inspired it?

Wow, I don't usually post, but here goes...I have six tattoos, all lovely and very special to me. I got my first one at the age of twenty and my most recent one at the age of forty-two. I imagine I will have a few more before I'm done. All of my tats have personal meaning for me, they are all beautiful, and they will all age with me just as the rest of my mind and body will: hopefully with grace, humor and wisdom.

What is your favorite Christmas song?

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
"Here We Come a'Wassailing"
"Happy Christmas (War is Over)"
Coventry Carol
"The Holly and the Ivy"
"Lo! How a Rose E'er Blooming"
"Let it Snow"
"Winter Wonderland"

I'm a Christmas caroler by profession (for one month of each year, at least), so I've got a million of 'em.

Have you tried to quit smoking?

My mother is dying. She was a smoker for about 40 years before her first stroke convinced her to quit cold turkey. She continues to have strokes and also struggles with various respiratory problems, emphysema being the most serious of them. She has double vision. She can no longer drive. She cannot walk without assistance. She cannot read (formerly one of her favorite pasttimes). She suffers from memory loss. She spends most of her time in and out of hospitals and doctors' offices. She has become trapped in her frail, failing body.

I love my mother very much, but I wish she had given me some consideration when I asked her to quit smoking so many years ago. I was just a kid at the time, and her response to me was "I enjoy smoking and I'm not going to quit."

Please try to keep your friends and family in mind when deciding whether to quit. It is unbearable to watch a loved one slowly and painfully die.

Trial set in deadly Baldwin shooting

My apologies, but I feel compelled to point this out - the article states that Hinndley's father used an interpreter, but said nothing at all about Hinndley using an interpreter. Thanks for your consideration.
