What about the Community Living Oppertunity houses strewn across the city? Are they exempt?

Conservatives preparing constitutional amendment to thwart school finance ruling

Hmmm, first Brownback wanted to get rid of SRS and go to a 'Faith based initiative". Then he is trying to get rid of any tax breaks for middle and lower class to fund the tax breaks he gave to the rich last year. Now he is trying to cut education even more. Is it to try to force more people to 'homeschool' or keep the masses 'dumb and under his thumb' or both???

Landlords speak out against proposed expansion of city's rental licensing program

So, what are the qualifications and training of these inspectors?? Can I, as a tenant, refuse to let them invade my privacy and not let them into my apartment? How will I know they know what they are doing? Are they electricians, plumbers, carpenters and certified HVAC technicians? I don't want to let strangers into my home, especially as a young single female. I pay for my privacy and do not want strangers rumaging through my things!

Lawrence residents now find higher sales taxes in certain shopping areas around town

Skinny, I'm very sure that you don't. Even if you didn't avoid taxes by shopping online and bragging about it.

What did you think of J. D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye"?

I could put it down, I just couldn't leave it unfinished. LOL
I'm a bit OCD that way.
That being said, the book was well written, just extremely disturbing. I can't stand to read all the 'Chicken soup" feel-good type books, but this book left me feeling depressed and disturbed. Just my opinion, and I know there are MANY others of don't feel the same way. I just had to get it out. =o)

What a depressing book. I was SO disappointed when I read it, because of all the hype over it. I wish I had never picked it up.
