New Wal-Mart plans include native grass, recreational path

I have heard and can agree with many oppositions to this walmart. However, I am sick and tired of people saying that it will do damage to downtown. I do not go downtown to buy groceries, toilet paper, lawn mowers, microwaves, coffee pots, etc. I couldn't find one person out of five who would buy any of those things from a downtown vendor and Walmart is often cheaper than Hyvee or Dillons for some of these things (maybe not Checkers, but that's a different discussion).

The reason NW Lawrence needs a Walmart is because the town has messed up so many times with urban planning that it has left people around 6th and Wak no choice, but to drive for almost 20 minutes just to get to the Walmart in town. Our streets are poorly laid out. Our traffic control is a joke. These are real problems.

Do I think that 6th and Wakarusa is the best place for the Walmart. No. I like the suggestion I read earlier of putting it at 6th and K-10. The area around it will be built up in a little over a year and It could help mitigate the number of businesses being squeezed right next to the schools. That is my rant for the day.

Concert creates good vibes for area businesses

People...allow me to explain. I do not care about the light hearted lawrence hippie. I am complaining about the out of town...bummed a ride...don't know how I'm getting home or buying more pot....so I'll beg off of the people of the town that are kind enough to host me...beggars.

Festival in full gear

well these hippies are the bad hippies. They had an entire south park episode dedicated to this type of bad hippie. The leech off the town that was kind enough to host the event, but bring in little money beyond what is spent at the show because they are dirty filthy beggars.

Women of Wakarusa

hey roshi12, pull your head out...these are not the hippies that made Lawrence. These hippies came from around the country with the sole purpose of going to a hippie jam fest and had no care whatsoever with the town.

That is why you see them begging in front of local businesses both downtown and elsewhere. They are trying to wash windows for money if they are a motivated hippie, but more just being filthy beggars.

Lawrence hippies can stay, but these poser beggar hippies can screw off.

please god may it be over soon...and many the hippies actually leave town. They have a way of wasting space and dirtying the place up. Perhaps some one should give these dreadlock wearing scumbags some advice....wash, rince, repeat.

More Wakarusa festival-goers arrested

Keep arresting these hippies. The promoter said that we didn't role out the welcome mat form them. No we didn't. It just says to wipe your feet before you enter.

Wakarusa medical tents relatively quiet

the hippies won't seek medical attention themselves. That would take time away from being dirty beggers.
