Second storm strikes

I second that. Here in Denver we now have 5 different snows on the ground. This is not normal for here and the worst is yet to come! March and April are the snowiest months. Lawrencians should come out here for a week and appreciate what snow they have!

Lower lakes, higher concern

BunE:
"I would like to see the dams removed and the recovery of the river ecosystem to begin."

The dams were built to control the floods that occasionally ravage the Kaw River Valley, so removing them would be a big mistake. We don't want a repeat of the Great Flood of 51'.

City gateway taking shape

Lawrence is well on it's way to becoming just another bland college town like Lincoln, Ne. I can just see it now with all the growth out west killing the local businesses and downtown drying up eventually. Do we really want to be like Johnson County??

Uplifting incident

I second that comment Speakout. Some people just can't give it a rest.

Ban on trans fats may not have a place at city's tables

As for the earlier comment from "HDCustom"...Lawrence has already gone to the crapper a long time ago. Just 10 years ago it was a really nice place to live and raise and family but I wouldn't say so now.

Commissioners to consider repair options for rural bridge

This bridge is still nicer than the old steel one that was here before. That one was extremely narrow and dangerous.

Yello Sub's future up in air

If this place goes under then it's truely the death of Lawrence. I've always enjoyed going into that place getting sandwitches and listening to whatever music the employees decide to play on their cd's. That's one of my memories of Lawrence.
