Amyx asks City Commission to weigh recreation center against other city priorities, projects
I do not believe it is any Commissioner's responsibility to "mount a massive groundswell approach" to anything. I believe the Commissioner is elected to represent the majority of the public, and quite frankly, from what I hear, that is exactly what Commissioner Amyx is doing. If you do not believe Commissioner Amyx, one-eye_wilbur, put your mug on the line and run for the Commission. You, apparently, know how to build all of our perceived needs without raising taxes. I would be interested in your plan.

Douglas County Commission, District 2: Thellman vs. Male
I've known Frank for many years and have found him to be an extremely good person. I agree with him in that not every person is designed to be a scientist or computer person. We should concentrate more on offering opportunities for our youth in the manufacturing and trades fields of employment. Not everyone is college material. Additionally, he has guided his business through these tough economic times when many others have failed. My vote will be for Frank!

Brownback administration pushes website to report waste in state government
I am not suggesting there are not $$s to be saved by eliminating duplication of services and waste in any governmental entity; but those $$s pale in relation to the amount of funds GIVEN to individuals abusing our welfare system. Most of us know at least 2 or 3 persons who are receiving food stamps, medical services, disability, unemployment or vocational rehab, even though they are perfectly capable of sustaining themselves and their families. But, we have raised a certain segment of our community who believe they are "ENTITLED" to these funds, and this entitlement mentality is being perpetuated through the education of their youngsters. Let's set up a process to find and eliminate these frauds and perhaps, our unemployment rate may also drop after they realize the state is not going to give them a living.

Phone, internet service restored to Lawrence school district buildings
AT&T Uverse unfortunately is not available in all areas of the city. I have checked multiple times...so I am either stuck with Knology or a dish. & I have head enough complaints about dishes to know I am moving from one disaster to another.

When will WOW take over operations of the system and get Knology, a fourth rate company, out of town? The sooner, the better.

Town Talk: Retail sales in Lawrence up by more than 4 percent for year; are major changes on tap for the T?
Another reason for the slow franchise fees from Knology could very easily be the fact that more people are leaving Knology because they absolutely do not provide quality service. Include me in those considering the jump...I am waiting to see if Wow can right the ship. I realize you can't correct a long-term issue in a short time, but Wow, too, is on a short string.

Unfortunately, I need to give a star rating because I can't give a lesser rating. I wish I could give a negative star rating. For several weeks, I have not been receiving all of my emails, having been notified of such by the senders. I call the phone number, only to be directed by "Automan" to input my phone number, for the purpose which has yet to be determined because after I finally do get to speak with a live individual, I am asked for my phone number. WHY? I already punched that in. For the umpteenth time, I explain frustratedly that I am not getting all of my emails. I am informed that the email is a free service of Knology, as if that is an explanation for why I am not receiving emails. I have heard so many excuses over the past few weeks, with the blame being placed on everybody but Knology, with the exception of the second to last time. They informed me their server was down and all of the emails were backed up. Hence, that is the reason I received an email 6 hours after it was sent. I have been told by the General Manager that no emails have been lost. Well, if they aren't lost, they have been permanently misplaced. I wish I had ISP options, but the only option in my area is a dish, which is equally unreliable. Here's a fervent hope that WOW will correct the abysmal service and cavalier attitude pervasive in Knology. It just p*sses me off that I have to pay for wholly substandard product and service. The only thing Knology has to offer over their competition is service; and I feel I have been serviced...in much the same way a bull services a heifer. And apparently, I am in the majority of people when I discuss Knology.

LLI did some work around our house and we were extremely pleased with the results. Their workers were diligent and friendly. And the job was completed correctly...no short cuts. They deserve your business.
