Planning Commission recommends approval of Menards store for south Lawrence

Oneeye_wilbur, so if you own two cars, are you a chain car owner. Tom & Linda own only Cottin's Hardware and Rental. There are no other Cottin's Hardware and Rentals. And I will do you the favor of not attacking you personally. We just differ on the definition of "Chain". I do not consider a locally owned and operated single location business a chain.

Planning Commission recommends approval of Menards store for south Lawrence

Cottin's Hardware and Rental IS NOT a chain. It is locally owned and operated by Tom & Linda Cottin. They are affiliated with True Value, but saying they are a chain is the same as saying KU is owned by the Big XII.

Attorney general seeks $1.2 million to defend new laws

Where is the Headline proofreader? Really? A T T O R N Y? is that an alternate spelling? Yesterday, the wrong name was listed in the head for the style scout. Today, this. Doesn't show a great deal of professionalism.

Lawhorn's Lawrence: Hopping around with downtown's Toad

Tim is certainly a true friend. It is never what can you do for me; it's "What can I do for you." And he does it. He is as much of a downtown landmark as the Eldridge Hotel. Long Live Toad!!!

Business-oriented political action committee gets big donations, endorses Chestnut, Farmer, Riordan in City Commission race

Other PACs that have failed miserably, or even back-fired:
The PAC that attacked David Schauner.
The PAC that attacked Nancy Schontz and Tom Gleason.
Sorry, I don't remember the names of the PACs.

I am convinced Lawrence does not respond well to PACs.

Candidates say it is time to move on from recreation center issue

Mike Amyx has been the only commissioner questioning the issue. Now that the vote has been taken and it ended 4-1 with Mike in opposition, there are still many procedures to go through before this is a "done deal." I believe Mike was saying, we can't revisit the vote, but that doesn't mean he will roll over. And if I know Mike, just watch the next few weeks and see. And incidentally, for all of those who believe Mike is opposing the issue for political expediency, he opposed it long before it even became an issue. Just talk with him.

Recommend this guy in a heartbeat. Called on a Saturday around 10...door was fixed by mid afternoon, even though he was already on another install. Then, he only charged me a service call. Customer service is not dead. But he may have a corner on it in the garage door business.

More twists with recreation center project: KU Endowment now requiring city to pay for land; UPDATE Self's Foundation again planning donation to city

Please do not refer to the City Commission in total. One Commissioner, Mike Amyx, has voted against this project since its inception.
