Public invited to see building constructed by KU architecture students

The address is 2105 Becker Dr. The best way to get there is to go north on Crestline Dr. off of 23rd Street. Proceed as if you are going to the Park and Ride Lots and go all around the roundabout into the WEST lot. The Hill Research and Development Center is straight ahead. Guests are able to park anywhere in the West Park and Ride lot and walk over to the building which connects off of the west corner.

Plan to raze McCollum Hall in the works

Nope... I personally removed every single closet door in that building a couple of years ago along with several other students working for housing.

Ninth and Vermont development proposal gets reserved reaction from Lawrence city commissioners

The building is an eye sore and the "poles" on top take away from the presence of Fraser Hall. The fake stone veneer is probably the worst choice in cladding as a building of that magnitude would have never been composed of that material. This city should take more advice from its school of architecture.

A rendering of the design of the proposed Treanor Architects headquarters building at 1040 Vt.

As an architecture student who has studied downtown Lawrence architecture I find this building perfect for this setting. Lawrence needs to get away from its traditional style and be more creative with its architecture. It is sad that a city such as Lawrence that hosts one of the best architectural schools in the country lacks in modern buildings. Fritzel was was pressured to build in the style he did because of the limitations put on the building by the Lawrence Historic Society. Considering that this building is off the main strip, I don't feel like it should have to conform to this style.
