How much do you expect to spend at the Lawrence Sidewalk Sale on Thursday?
Have to agree. I might stop for a cup of Joe this afternoon and people watch. Nice to see "Daisy Dukes" are back in style.

Douglas County to consider ‘jaw-dropper’ property tax increase of 16.6 percent
The problem is WHICH services and staff do you cut? Some services are currently just hanging by a thread already. Do we stop repairing roads? picking up garbage? reduce police forces? snow removal? Health services? Education? The list goes on. Personally, I believe we should be paying more taxes and offering deductions for those who can prove it's a burden. I believe there are too many of us who are "Me First, Screw the rest" and complain that $150 in additional taxation is an unbearable hardship.

I disagree. I moved here from Atlanta and I'm getting a lot more bang for my hard earned dollars. Coincidentally, my home is valued at approximately $150,000. I'm more than willing to kick in another $150 to maintain the current level of services. Let him move if he's dissatisfied. The grass is not always greener...........

Which sports story are you paying more attention to, LeBron James or the World Cup final?
The "King James Special" was higher rated than "The Tiger Woods 'I cheated on my wife but I'll still play in the Masters' Show".

Expert witness says Cat Tracker had several defects that led to fatal accident on Iowa Street
If your going to allow passengers access to the upper deck you had better post warnings and/or block access when in transport. Neither of which occurred. How high or low the bus was is irrelevant. The bus was built/modified for this purpose. If this was not a modified bus and he climbed on top, was struck and killed, then you would have the "this bag is not a toy" argument.

Investigator finds no evidence that Lawrence City Manager David Corliss made racial slur
I haven't been on these blogs in a few months and the same old idiots are still at it. I would bet that every race/nationality has ancestors who threw spears at some point in their human history. Only a racist would deem the term a racial slur.

Plans aim to build on Anschutz’s student services
Let's see I have a BA degree. I was making $45,000/yr. Completed my Masters was bumped to $65,000. I have 30 working years left, so that meaningless degree will only net me a minimum of $600,000. Boy, was that a waste of time.
