When online friends die: a goodbye to Multidisciplinary

So sorry to hear this - I always hoped I'd meet her in person, someday, even though we had had a bit of a falling out (long stupid story). She was full of spunk and had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind compassion. We exchanged many messages/emails and she always had the ability to make me laugh. Her knack for LJWorld Insider info, was always impressive! RIP, Multi. You will most definitely be missed.

Cardiologist — and many others — offer help to 11-year-old entrepreneur who fell victim to theft

Wonderful! Definitely keep us updated. I know there are several of us who want to chip in, if this offer falls through...

Group eyes 'pay as you throw' system

Ugh - here we go again. It would be *nice* if this city decided to leave well enough alone...for once.

What is the strangest dream you can remember having?

Broccoli was growing out of my legs (the entire surface of both legs was covered in it). But, that wasn't the most disturbing part of the dream. In the dream, I asked my husband if it was broccoli, he reached over, casually plucked a piece off of my leg and started chewing - only to confirm: "Yep. That's broccoli." As stupid and silly as it sounds, that dream disturbed the heck out of me.

Town Talk: Grinding out more details on Dillons; Civil War events and what Lawrence ought to do to mark a tragic anniversary; Downtown Lawrence planning shopping event

I agree - that's good stuff! I've experimented using lots of different nuts. I tend to like mixing them, but pecans are one of my favorites.

Chad, Chad, Chad - if you own a food processor, you own a "peanut butter grinding machine." I just got done making a batch of peanut/almond butter. A little oil and honey makes it smooth and sweet.

Cab driver alleges Eudora police officer injured her during ride to strip club

Actually, they do ID suspects accused of anything BUT sex crimes. After a suspect is charged, it's fair game. They have stated this policy many times over the years.

It's too damn crazy hot!

:) Sometimes, I wish the LJWorld had a "like" button. Indicative of too much Facebook time, I guess.

It's too damn crazy hot!

I leave a spray attachment on my hose. Turned on the water today, walked around to the back to water the garden and the hose literally burst open, before I picked it up. I'm blaming the heat (and will NOW take off the attachment, when not in use).

My friend had some asphalt melt onto one of her car tires a week or so ago. Yeah...the heat has overstayed it's welcome!

I'm not a fan of only having two window A/C units in this old house. But, at the same time, I'm grateful they work!

Does creativity lend itself to addictions?

I'm with Shula and think it comes down to availability and the opportunity for these creative types to be exposed to more substances. This is straying off topic a little bit, but there is also a correlation between IQ and substance (particularly alcohol abuse). Studies have shown that children with higher IQ, are more likely to develop drinking problems. Something about the stress of being gifted, leading to self medication. There are many SMART people, who develop addictions.
