Letter: Torture issue
I love it when the NY Times is quoted as a go to source for making a point. They are not at all biased and left leaning are they? It is curious to me that we all seem to forget that during the Clinton years, the opportunity to take out OBL existed and was missed. Mr. Clinton calls it his biggest regret and thinks 9/11 would have been avoided had his admin done just that.

Legislation seeks to block federal gun laws on Kansas firearms
Why am I always amazed at the stupidity of people? I have an idea, let's all be the same. We will all make the same money, live in the same houses, drive the same cars, dress the same....and no one will ever be sad. A utopian society one and all!
Grow up! If I want a gun, then I should not be barred from having one. At the end of the day this is not about guns to me, it is about being free to choose.

Opinion: Leaving Big 12 doesn't make sense for KU now
This madness, and that is what it is, needs to stop. While football is king, everything shifts over time. The constant, 24 hour a day barrage of football on Tv will take a toll on it's popularity someday. Money cannot be the only deciding factor in life. Afterall, aren't these institutions of higher learning? When does geography and common sense come into play?

Petition seeks Kansas secession from the United States because of Obama's re-election
Doolindalton, If we were allowed to retain more of our own revenue, perhaps we would have a shot at funding our own schools. But what the hell, people in DC know what is better for us anyway. So keep on the same path, soon none of us will have anything that is not first approved by the feds.

Construction coming to two stretches of Iowa Street
23rd and Clinton Parkway is the same road right? There are already double left turn lanes there. Are they saying that the west bound (south turn) lane of 23rd street will be expanded along with the east bound (north turn) lane? This is kind of confusing.
