Kansas on cutting edge of knife rights

free┬Ědom
noun
1. the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint: He won his freedom after a retrial.
2. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.
3. the power to determine action without restraint.
4. political or national independence.
5. personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery: a slave who bought his freedom.

However, when ones actions deny another their right to liberty, it is a problem.
Security is not a right, it must be earned.

City Commission approves Rock Chalk Park

" I am quite sure that the founding fathers knew what they were doing when they set in motion a county as a representative democracy."
We are NOT a democracy, and our founding fathers never wanted us to be. The founding fathers set us up to be a REPUBLIC! A "constitutional federal republic" to be more specific. However, this government is operated as a representative democracy by a congress. The important distinction is that the USA is not operated democratically, but rather by representatives who come to power by democractic process. This was an essential and subtle fundamental of the constitution: we are not a true democracy which could amount to mob rule, but a representative democracy in which our leaders act in our interests.
DEMOCRACY= Mob Rule (Minority always looses)
REPUBLIC= Leaders make decisions for us (but we can vote them out if needed)

NRA-backed Kansas law raises tough free-speech issues

Yes this is their job, but they should not spend others money trying to sway the public opinion in their direction.

WOW to begin work later this month on upgrade to boost Internet speeds in city

Yes they have a terrible business model, which is why they will fail just like previous companies. They don't want to go above and beyond to provide their customers with new technology because they are still "happily" paying for crappy existing services. I wish Wicked had more support, they are doing something few small ISP's in this country will not touch. Wicked just doesn't have enough money for the infrastructure of its new fiber project.

NRA-backed Kansas law raises tough free-speech issues

Could not have said this better myself. I do not want to pay for someone else to push ideas onto the public, and this also goes for issues that I agree with. This forces those that do not agree with the issue to support it with their tax dollars!

From Twitter events to burning art, ideas starting to flow on events for Quantrill's raid commemoration

During these times, citizens were supposed to keep records of the firearms in their homes. Then they were supposed to keep them in the city armory. Only a few of the Lawrence citizens had secretly kept firearms in their home, and these people helped hold off Quantrils raiders at least somewhat. This is why registry= eventual confiscation. History has confirmed this in 100% of the countries who adopt this.

Topeka man charged in May 19 double shooting now indicted on federal gun charges

Actually he is already a convicted felon. "He had spent time in Kansas prisons after being convicted of aggravated robbery in Shawnee County in 2002."
This is a felony in Kansas. No law could have possibly prevented this, he would have gotten a gun from criminals himself. Come on, even the serial numbers were scratched off.
