KU student killed in crash on U.S. Highway 59

According to her parents she had prepared the text PRIOR to driving. She had not yet hit "Send". So the answer is NO as to whether she was texting and driving; at least per her parents. IMHO, "texting" is the actual act of inputting/ reading characters or messages, not merely having a text present on your phone's screen.

Motorcycle accident briefly closes Kansas Turnpike; one person critically injured

Perhaps you should write a letter to the editor about this issue rather than doing the very thing you advocate against. Condolences are appropriate no matter the source or place. Would you have all the floral tributes and messages removed from the scene of a tragedy simply because they were anonymous?

No, actually I didn't. Apologies for the critique. Just too accustomed to your 24/7/365 rants about all things regarding law enforcement, I guess.

There's some debate as to whether she was texting or had one ready to go but had yet to hit "Send".

The word used was "officials", not "officers", therefore your attempted distinction is irrelevant.

Do we really need your axe-grinding on an article dealing with a death? Start a blog.

Prosecutors planning to move forward with allegations of animal cruelty at KU fraternity

Had to go where? Defend a helpless creature? Hell yes. If you don't understand the propriety of that, I can't be of assistance. I'm a human rights and women's rights activist too. Aren't you?

From my perspective, that type of behavior is part & parcel of the very "screwed up society" you bemoan above. I'm not worried about food. I'm worried about people that applaud/ignore/accept such behavior.

I hear static-filled B & W television is also a great way to convey political messages.

Something ironic about the lack of "color" in that advice.

Fear the rainbow...
