Police to aggressively enforce seat-belt laws in 2013 Click It or Ticket campaign

Just so you sign a waiver saying that when you are disabled as the result of your accident while not wearing a seatbelt, and lose your job and your health insurance, you don't ask the taxpayers to pay your ongoing medical bills and costs for care.....

Mortality rates down at KU trauma, burn centers

Oh, I'm completely with both of you about the KU trauma center. I was just making fun of the JW typo.

I get tired of hearing people wonder why LMH isn't able to take critically injured patients, seemingly without any idea about what it takes to have the doctors, nurses and everyone else trained and ready 24/7.

Mortality rates down at KU trauma, burn centers

The KU Trauma Center, meanwhile, has a morality index of 0.72.

Is that good or bad?

No health premium hike for county employees

I'm less bothered by that, since children tend to use fewer high dollar services, than I am about people who are higher users of health care who pay the same premiums as others. People with type 2 diabetes, chronic heart disease, and lung disease who can control these conditions by making lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and smoking cessation instead use something like 60% of health care resources.

Letter: NRA sway?

The science of sampling attempts to get a group that represents the population as a whole. Polling 100 people at a gun show is hardly a cross section of the entire US population.

Letter: NRA sway?

My real concern is how dysfunctional our Congress is. For every problem, each "side" takes a position, they fight over who is right and who is wrong, they play legislative games, one side "wins," and then the problem goes on being a problem and the citizens are left without workable solutions. Until members of Congress on both sides start working together become willing to compromise, we're left with this dysfunction.

Letter: NRA sway?

Stewart pointed out a widely known statistic. I never said that it was true because he said it
