Lawrence area chess champions in national competitions
Congrats to all! Lawrence chess fans should check out the Arts Center's Free State Film Festival - this year we're showing two chess films! COMPUTER CHESS on Saturday, April 27th at 4:30pm- (a narrative film about computer chess programmers by acclaimed mumblecore director Andrew Bujalski) and BROOKLYN CASTLE on Sunday, April 28 at 2:30pm (a documentary about a winning inner city jr. high chess team). We'll have tables and chess boards in the lobby so people can play one hour before showtimes with help from KU chess club. For more info, check out www.freestatefilmfest.com

Local Author's, Chris McKitterick, innovative fight against on-line piracy of TRANSCENDENCE: live chat and give away at 10:00 a.m
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Ronda!
I'm working on a new documentary on the evolution of soccer in Western Kansas and am 2/3 way through my nanowrimo novel- woo-hoo!
But back to subject, I am like you and would prefer a hard copy I could buy at The Raven. I am a fan of sci-fi and local authors so am looking forward to it!

Lawrence Arts Center's Film Intensive Workshop - Friday and Saturday Nights: "Mariachi Estrella" and "The Only Good Indian"
Also wanted to add Friday night's screening will include the award winning short films from the LAC Short Film Festival, "Misfortune Smiles" and "Never Trust a Yeti."
Saturday night's screening will have live mariachi music before the films.
And the film intensive workshops going on all day Saturday are going to be awesome! Filmmakers from all levels will get to come together and work on their craft, network and share ideas. LAC is really starting to be the hub of the Lawrence indie film scene.

Entropy: A Rite of Passage
I have always liked the word entropy (used it for the title of one of my first short scripts in film school!) but don't think I have ever thought if it in such a beautiful context... thanks for sharing that!
