Kansas Senate spat sees Hensley say to Francisco: ‘I’m done with you’

The troubling fact is that the dems continue to lose seats in the Kansas legislature. Eventually, you'll have to look in the mirror.

Letter: Local retail

I buy my clothes, shoes, housewares in Downtown Lawrence because they have choices you can't find in a big box store.

Your Turn: Planning must respect community vision

I am wondering what stores in the Southpoint project are going to save Lawrence retail. I know Old Navy was here and left and are pegged as one of the retailers for Southpoint. If only (fill in the blank) was in Lawrence we would have a better retail experience. Please tell me which new retailer is going to increase out-of-towners coming to our community to spend their dollars.
As a Downtown retailer I know there are products here that you can't find anywhere else in surrounding communities. That's how all of us stay in business. We have a concentration of deep retail in Downtown Lawrence. We buy local products. We buy from small unique suppliers. Its our job to bring you products you can't find anywhere else. We already have better retail, do we just need more? That's the question we have ask.

City wants feedback on proposed changes to transit system

I'm a downtown merchant and I love the T. Downtown is the hub of the city. Moving the bus hub will reduce ridership and reward urban sprawl.

Topeka-based financial services company moving headquarters to west Lawrence; city moving ahead with ice rink; new affordable housing coalition forms

I agree. Thanksgiving until March 1st. Downtown needs traffic in Jan. & Feb. more than Dec. A great idea. I'm glad they are moving forward on the rink.

El Sol Mexican restaurant opens in West Lawrence; update on chamber CEO search

The problem with the shopping center at Bob Billings and Wakarusa is rent. We looked at a space there until we found out the costs. When El Mezcal moves (with all their successful locations) you know its not the food.

Doesn't Wicked still owe money to the City of Lawrence?

State GOP adopts resolution demanding withdrawal from Common Core, science standards

I really would like to see our education system move back to seeking and expanding knowledge instead of finding a job. Tying knowledge to economics (or religion) seems like a slippery slope to stupidity.
