Brownback proposes Office of Repealer, but doesn't have specifics on what he'd like repealed

No one expects the Brownback Repealer! (apologies to Monty Python)

Quinceañera ceremony for young Lawrence girl brings Latin American tradition to Lawrence

I hope this one didn't end as many that I have seen; in a drunken brawl. Never could understand how someone could ruin another's special day by being such an a**

How many of these four bad habits do you have — smoking, drinking too much, inactivity and poor diet?

If you have to ask for a definition, you can probably answer yes for all of them! ;)

Paper, plastic or, no thanks, I brought my own tote bag?

AreUNorml, wait until they start charging a tax on plastic bags (like in some urban areas, D.C. for example). You will see plenty of men carrying/using them.

Lawrence's Sacred Journey closed, under investigation by federal officials

On a serious note, there must be something else up since K2 is available by mail order, not just at this shop.

Lawrence's Sacred Journey closed, under investigation by federal officials

"The FDA is a federal agency under control of the president. They are conducting the investigation on the potpourri affair."

Oh, wait. Now I remember. The FDA started this whole mess and ordered the Kansas legislature to get involved and ban K2. No, the legislature started the whole issue.

Lawrence's Sacred Journey closed, under investigation by federal officials

Excuse me mr_right_wing? I thought this was a result of the conservative Kansas legislature, not the liberal Obama presidency. Did I miss something?

KDHE investigating recycling center

KDHE doesn't have enough people to check on all the places that should be checked, let alone check one several times a year. There is only one half-time person to enforce erosion (Clean Water Act) violations from construction erosion for the whole state.

City of Lawrence backs off issuing tickets over unshoveled sidewalks — until next week

Waa. Simple; take care of your property or pay the consequences. Snow/ice are hazards like anything else. If you don't remove it and someone slips and falls you are liable. Could be worse: Where I lived in Montana you had 48 hours, then your were ticketed. You then had another 24 or 48 hours (can't remember), then the city removed the snow and billed you on top of the ticket.
