City's art program poised to expand

An extra $600k! What's all this talk about "art?" Let's just put in some round-a-bouts. I bet one would look great and attract tourists if it was on I-70. Or, we could put one in where that new Walmart wants to go. You know, just a round-a-bout in the middle of a field....

City set to decide Wal-Mart fate

Does anyone know what would happen to the value of the homes nearby if Walmart goes in? I can't seem to recall ever seeing a Walmart in a "nice" part of town.

School board OKs tax increase

Anyone who is complaining needs to stop right now. You had your chance to offer arguments where and when they mattered but were too "busy" to attend the publicly announced meeting. If you can't even show up to defend your own money, you have zero right to complain. Think of it as "taxation, but was too dumb be represented." Why would anyone who disagrees with this tax increase ever blame anyone but themselves? Seems that some of us have a problem being accountable for our own actions. Yes, doing nothing was your choice of action.

Study plan raises concern

Hey all you complainers. Could you maybe put your negative heads together and come up with some positive alternative ideas that don't involve whining? I know, you COULD just try and get elected into a position to do something about it.... or you could continue to throw an adult version of a temper tantrum.

Business deal may force closing of The Crossing

Have any of you been in there recently? It's definitely not a "well kept" building. The only attractive thing about it is the deck and lots of bars have that now. Also, you can't even buy real beer there. Just that "near beer" 3.2 stuff. All that does is make you fat and have to pee more.

Report forecasts boomer demand for homes, resort at Clinton Lake

Hold on... so the city complains about spending lots of $$ on a project that will service everyone (aka: library) regardless of income. Now a report comes out that we can spend lots of $$ on a resort and homes that only about 2% of us can afford, built at a lake for flood control- paid for by public funds. I'm confused. How does a high-rent hotel and golf course (never mind Eagle Bend) benefit the community? Could someone help us to understand this logic?

Highway patrol drug check greets fans on way to fest

Could this "check lane" be called, "profiling?"

Gunshots at bar revive safety issues

I know, we should let everyone carry a gun. BUT, the gun should be hidden. Then, it would be assumed that everyone else is armed. (follow me on this) If one believes everyone is armed, then they are less likely to pull out their gun for fear of retaliation (kind of like the nuclear deterrent theory). So even if, or ESPECIALLY if you're under the influence of drugs and alcohol your common sense will prevail and you will not use your weapon. Brilliant! Okay, one last step... we must make it simple to obtain this hidden gun permit. GOT IT! Simply mandate one 8 hour "safety" course for this permit. See. Isn't that easy. Take home message: Arm everyone, then no one gets shot.

Sewer crisis likely over

$128000 for that building?! Where did he get that number?

My house is 1200 ft and they're taxing for $155000. What gives? That's robbing us tax-payers!
