100 years ago: Passengers injured when streetcar overturns

I found it......Ordinance 973 renamed the east/west streets. Ontario Street is 17th Street. I used to live in University Place near 17th (f/k/a Ontario) Street and Louisiana...it is a steep hill!

Ordinance 973 can be found at: http://www.lawrenceks.org/documents/O...

Brownback signs into law bill establishing adult stem cell research and treatment at KU Medical Center

Back in my high school days, David Prentice and I were friends. It's sad to see him involved with a hate group like the Family Research Council. For more information on the FRC's actions, see: http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed...

It’s official: Brownback signs bill saying life begins at fertilization

Food for thought:

Does this mean that I can claim my fertilized egg as a dependent on my tax returns? What if the fertilized egg fails to implant due to some external force, is there criminal liability? If the egg and sperm of two foreigner join in Kansas, will the resulting baby be a US citizen? What is the status of all those frozen fertilized eggs in IVF facilities? Etc., etc., etc......

100 years ago: Custody battle plays out in Lawrence courtroom

Her Uncle is buried in St. Peter's cemetery in Big Springs and her Aunt is buried in Maple Grove cemetery west of Lecompton. The Uncle ended up re-marrying and having a brood of his own. I haven't figured out what ever happened to the little girl after going back to her father.

Kansas boat tax question winning

Boats are already taxed at a relatively high rate. The change in the constitution would lower that rate. "Watercraft" would refer to motorized boats.

What store, if any, is downtown lacking?

Forget restaurants and bars...there's enough of those. How about a men's clothing store?

School board hopeful attends anti-gay church

So what's the big news? I imagine that there are quite a few legislators, etc. that attend an "anti-gay church." The only thing is that the WBC is explicit in their animus.
