Longtime employee Linda Lassen 1 of 2 laid off at Penn House on Friday

I think you're on to something Alpenglow. The MO is to hire young impressionable inexperienced individuals. Make sure you can intimidate them and keep em guessing. Isolate these individuals from people that can help them then blame them for your failures. You get all the power and control with an easy scapegoat.

I have a feeling that there could have been some reductions in other areas to help keep Linda around.

For example: oh say....someone in a top position that used to ride around in a Benz while working for an organization that specializes in service to low income families. A great approach would be to downsize to a Honda. AND as an added bonus..... a little more approachability and credibility among those that can only dream of owning a Honda much less a Benz. You know, common sense cost cutting instead of ripping 40 years of service out of an important organization.

Smart cuts could have been made....but that would require a conscience and a brain.

I'd be interested in an audit. Maybe there are some consistencies in poor business practices of the spending kind. Or perhaps some privileges afforded to some and not others. Who knows what an audit would produce. Not just any audit, a real good one. One that would leave no purchase unturned.

From Hope to Audacity: The Evolution of President Barack Obama's Rhetoric and the 2012 Election -- 10/24/12 at Woodruff Auditorium, Kansas Union

Well there's at least one policy Obama has continued and escalated from the Bush era which would be war mongering.

He weeps for dead children in the US all the while bombing innocent children in the mid-east because they are in the general area of where terrorist may or may not be. Hundreds of dead children on his hands and to him it's collateral damage.

The left won't acknowledge his war mongering and the right is all too eager to support it. He refuses to answer for the targeted assassination of a 16 year old US citizen. I don't think the federal government/Obama is in any position to lecture the US citizens on responsibly using deadly weapons.

Opinion: Entitlement state not sustainable

I have my fair share of problems with Bush, but seeing as how Obama has continued Bush's foreign policy they're one in the same to me.

Yes end all foreign aid.
Yes close all foreign bases.

That's a terrible way to go about changing policy and providing a "solution".

That's an excellent point. End foreign aid and tell Obama to stop assassinating US citizens and killing women and children. You see for Obama, if the kids you kill are in another country it's collateral damage. If kids are killed here in the US it's a tragedy.

Or go the free route. Don't get pregnant.

Maybe those having children should....not have children if they can't provide for them. If you knowingly get pregnant and can't afford a child w/o assistance then you're just adding to the problem.

We don't need a fundamental change of America. Perhaps we need to return to our fundamentals.

The president's job isn't to organize community.

Opinion: Renewed draft could curb gun violence

Gandalf,

You're correct.

Maybe I should rephrase. The constitution, as it was intended by the authors, should not authorize the President to go to war without a declaration. The war powers act and joint resolution is a violation of that requirement despite congressional consent.

Just my opinion, but you are correct as you have proven above.

"The U.S. Constitution delegates the declaration of war power to the Congress, but they have not exercised this power since WWII."

From the article I linked above. It's a great article and shows precedent in how we have gone to war properly in the past.

Wounded...you're right about Israel. Now they're screwed because they don't have Mubarak to protect them. I wonder if the US will continue to give Egypt billions...maybe we could use that money for Hurricane Sandy relief.
