Master teacher ‘best of the best’

Didn't say I didn't like rednecks. It's bigotry that annoys me. You know, bigotry:
Stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.

...kind of like many people who have commented here. I would like our educational system to get better but that's hard to do when many are too stubborn to even criticize it or accept criticism.

You, and many others on here, remind me of the bigoted rednecks I was forced to grow up around. They had their own opinions too, which was fine, however anyone who criticized those opinions were immediately ostracized by the entire group who thought they had ALL the answers. Anyone who disagreed needed to just, "get a life." It’s all starting to sound familiar here. You are just one reason why I no longer define myself as a liberal because you are just as arrogant and self-righteous as those bigots I had to grow up around.
Way to go woodscolt, 10 points for originality!

How about a new perspective on the problem of education in our nation? How about removing most of the bureaucratic policies that only suppress teachers abilities to do their jobs more effectively? How about stop acting like, "We know it all already 'cause I'm a liberal intellect" and start realizing that there is so much more to be done? How about being concerned w/where our nation's educational levels stand internationally? I suggest thinking about things like that instead of pretending everything is soooo perfect all the time and money is the solution to all educational problems in our nation. You were probably too offended by my "rant" to find any.

Typical liberal response. It's called disagreeing w/others and harmless debating. I don't have any idea who those individuals that you speak of are. Blah, blah, blah, huh? It could be a productive debate if someone would actually challenge my argument. But, you can't and liberals want it there way or no way because they're "intellects" and they know everything!
-Please. Out comes the arrogant attitudes. I know! -An easier solution might be to simply abolish freedom of speech for anyone who disagrees w/the liberal agenda. Clearly, that's how most who've commented here, think. I'm surprised LJWorld even allowed my comments to last this long! They might actually appreciate real-time debates regarding complicated issues.

Yah, good example! From the movie "A Few Good Men", where Nicholson plays a military commander who orders an illegal killing of another Marine. Then he wants everyone to say "thank you" for it. Where's the "appropriate" police on this comment? And you use this example on veteran's day of all days!? Well let me say to you sir, as a Veteran, thank you so much!

“You’re just proof that education doesn’t work, ha, ha!”

You all are super easy to predict. Try coming up w/a solution once in a while.

Oh, so education is all about one person, huh? How about the kids that this teacher has had a positive influence on? How about the educational system over-all learning from this person's successes? Your defensive reaction was predicted before you even read my comment. Furthermore, your kool-aid drinking WILL NOT help improve are educational system. Constructive criticism will. It's a typical response from someone who likely has never thought for themselves.
-Way to go Number_1,000,000,000,000,000,000_Grandma, glad to see the "appropriate" police are on the beat!

Master teacher ‘best of the best’

I’m sure this person is a good teacher but overall, internationally, our educational system is WELL below the average. There has not been a real significant change in the level of intelligence since 1971 as far as inclining or declining goes. Anyone who has ever worked for the government knows that employees’, including teachers, abilities are always limited because of the bureaucracy that dictates their policy. Bureaucracies tie teachers (and other employees) hands behind their backs and keeps them from using simple common sense in many cases. We are literally falling behind but some of you crazy liberals think everything is going great. You think money and more taxes should solve this problem. If that’s true, how come we’re well below the international average in education but as far as spending is concerned, we put more money than any other nation into education – and the results DON’T change? I read someone’s comment about the teacher in the article wearing a nose ring. Soon after one of these crazy liberals (just as crazy as a blind-religious person) goes on the defensive over it. That’s another reason a REAL solution is difficult to reach. STUBBURNESS. “What!? How dare you say something critical about a teacher!?” Look at the statistics idiot. Sometimes you have excellent teachers, like the one in the article perhaps, and then you have teachers who have reached their tenure and are LOUSY but can’t be replaced w/someone who will actually help kids get better educated as a result of that rule. It’s also a result of liberal idiots who go on the defensive anytime someone even criticizes the education system we have. And then you have a clear liberal prejudice in education that encourages some individuals to become higher educated and others to take a hike. “President Obama wants single mothers to go to college!” Why doesn’t the so-called “politically correct” party say “single parents”? I get that there are more single Moms than Dads but is that pc? NO! I personally know 6 single Dads that Obama and the rest of the Dems could give a hoot about. Education in our nation is NOT as great as it’s usually presented by the left. It needs a SERIOUS make-over w/a lot of the issues that I’ve brought up – and money, tenures, taxes and ONLY encouraging a portion of people to attend college WILL NOT pull our nation out of the obvious educational slump we’ve been in internationally. So liberals, scrape the rust off your "equal rights" philosophy and grow up, stop demanding more money be thrown at a complex issue that requires a more realistic solution and get over your selves, you aren’t that smart and the statistics show it! Now, open the flood gates of the prejudice-stubborn liberal opinions… “What! How dare you have a non-liberal opinion once in a while!” ~or~ “You’re just proof that education doesn’t work, ha, ha!” Yah, all that should solve our educational problems, way to go liberals!
