Former state representative Solbach critically injured after ATV and car collide

I don't believe so. Dang, people, be careful! A seat belt probably wouldn't have done Mr. Solbach any good on a Mule getting hit at 55 mph (or 65 as some do on that highway). My grandfather checked cattle on foot or in a truck or on a tractor. Not as much fun as an ATV, but, except for on foot, certainly more visible and secure...and street legal.

KU chancellor tells students: Don't expect canceled classes if Jayhawks win national title

People are complaining about getting the cart before the horse, and they're right. (Maybe Danforth Chapel will be closed on Sunday.) However, some of the same people complaining the Chancellor has now jinxed the Jayhawks were wondering about campus plans for next Tuesday just yesterday in the office.

Heard on the Hill: Huron consultants visit KU again; Chronicle of Higher Education shows how KU ranks in federal research dollars, size of its endowment

What type of information was used to make this comparison of custodial crews? Similar duties? Similar (age of/condition of) equipment to complete the duties? Similar items being cleaned? Number of items being cleaned in the same square footage? Age of custodians? Rate of pay?

Did they compare every position's job performance on campus (top to bottom) to KU's peer institutions or just the custodial category?

Regents lobby legislators to restore $50 million in funding for higher education

"Asked about where the Legislature would find the funds for an increase, Sherrer, a former lieutenant governor, said it was his experience that when legislators want to bolster funding, even in the worst of times, they are able to do it.

“Where there is the will, there is always the way,” he said."

As there is at the university when they create unclassified professional staff positions or give them promotions which increase their pay but don't have the $$ to give university support staff raises even when duties are increased.
