State Board hears opposition to Common Core Standards

This seems to be becoming some kind of partisan issue, but let’s all remember that we were united in our opposition to No Child Left Behind. Why? Because No Child Left Behind was a national standard that limited the ability of schools, teachers, and parents to tailor the education of each child; because it created standardized testing that forced teachers to ‘teach to the test’; because it was underfunded. All were good reasons to oppose No Child Left Behind, and all were non-partisan.

I am happy to see No Child Left Behind ending, but to replace it with another standard that limits the ability of schools, teachers, and parents to tailor the education of each child, creates a standard curriculum that will eventually necessitate a standardized test for that standard knowledge, and is underfunded, makes no sense.

It doesn’t matter where the standards come from, if they are forced upon schools, teachers, and parents, we will be in the same place we now find ourselves and we’ll likely be debating the next ‘fix’ a decade from now.

Brownback wins race for Kansas governor

The website has his platform and beliefs. There is also a great article on how 5% changes everything. In this election, the only way your vote can count is to vote for Andrew Gray. Brownback will win regardless of your vote...and vote for Andrew Gray is a vote to create a 3rd Major Political Party.

Brownback wins race for Kansas governor

I can't believe that articles like this don't even mention that there are other options in this race.

A vote for either of the two establishment party candidates is a wasted vote with no real chance of affecting the outcome of this election. One candidate enjoys a dominate lead and will win with our without the vote of independent Kansans.

A vote for Andrew Gray for Kansas Governor changes everything. When the Gray Team receives 5% or more of the statewide vote, Kansas gives birth to a 3rd Major Political Party. Three parties in the primaries, three parties in the debates, no more us-versus-them politics. Finally we get new ideas and a way for common Kansans to have a voice at the table.

A vote for Andrew Gray begins to restore sanity to the system when a third major party redefines how sane campaigns should be run. What if the Libertarians require resumes for all of their primary candidates? What if the new party limits primary spending and pools that money for a party-wide resource to voters so they can find answers from all the LP candidates in one place? Will the establishment parties follow? If you demand it, they will.

The two establishment parties have enjoyed a monopoly of ideas in Kansas for 110 years. Do you have the courage to change it? It’s in your power to do so.

Vote with courage.

Vote Andrew Gray for KS Governor.

Candidates’ ideals for state differ

just_another_bozo_on_this_bus, the Republicans and Democrats have had a monopoly on ideas for 140 years. Isn't it time quit allowing them to blame each other....there is enough blame to go around and both the establishment parties have earned a full measure of it.

Candidates’ ideals for state differ

It's a shame that this article doesn't cover Andrew Gray more. With Brownback so far ahead, a vote for Brownback or Holland is a wasted vote with no chance of affecting the outcome of this election. The only way that Kansans can make their vote count this year is to vote to create a third major party which will hold both the Republicans and Democrats more Accountable for years to come.

Vote Andrew Gray...vote the change the political landscape of Kansas. Tell your friends, to create 3rd Major Political Party 5% or more of Kansas Voters must cast their vote for Andrew Gray.

GOP candidates energized by supporter turnout at Lawrence rally

We have one candidate who is on track to spend $2.9 Million for a job that pays $100,000 per year. That's un-American and kind crazy.

We have another candidate who will spend $650,000 for the same job, and he has no chance of winning. That's equally un-American and even more crazy.

Yet we can't just blame them. We gave them part of that money (the rest came from special interest groups) and we continue to vote for them even though we know what they are doing is selling our power to others. That's totally crazy.

While public schools will lose state taxpayer money for each student who opts for a different educational setting, most local and federal taxpayer funds are not directly tied to the number of students enrolled. So the resources per student will go up.

We expect that public schools will thrive as they are given every advantage that conventional wisdom tells us they need to excel: Smaller Class Size, More Resources Per Student (since most federal and local tax dollars are not directly tied to number of pupils), more parental involvement and more focused teachers as struggling students are empowered to choose another educational setting that more closely meets their individual learning style.

State taxpayers will save about $2,600 per student who opts for a KELA Scholarship, and educational outcomes will go up for both those that take KELA Scholarships and those who choose to stay in their current schools. More importantly, we begin to change the culture and increase parental and community involvement in the education of our children.

Don't waste your vote this year.....

A vote for Brownback is wasted, it has no chance of affecting the outcome of this election.

A vote for Holland is wasted, it has no chance of affecting the outcome of this election.

A vote for Andrew Gray will change the political landscape of Kansas forever. When his team gets 5% or more of the statewide vote, Kansas will give birth to a third major political party. Overnight the Republicans and Democrats will become more responsive to voters like you and me. We will end the us-vs-them politics of Kansas as we now have a commonsense middle ground political party.

Vote with courage. Vote Andrew Gray Kansas Governor.
