Wind energy a force in Kansas, industry report says

Wow, you're a real peach, Ted. Go live by that coal plant you love so much and let that particulate fill your lungs. Go on, I'll wait.

City to set fees for Vermont Street parking garage, eliminate some free parking at N.H. garage

I think we need to work on your definition of "screwed". They can park on a side street a couple blocks away, pay a few bucks for all-day parking, or walk or ride a bike. This is a non-issue.

Extra steps to eat: In Lawrence, nearly 18,000 live in federally designated 'food desert'

She could also walk one block to the Hobb's Park stop for Rt 1. It could drop her off 20 minutes later at 17th and Barker, just one block from the Mass St. Dillons. There are ways. But as someone who used to rely solely on bikes and buses, I totally get where she's coming from. However, the city just isn't big enough to sustain a grocery store every few blocks. If only a few hundred or maybe 1'000 people are going to shop there, how are they going to make any profit?

Wind energy company NextEra eyeing Douglas County

Oh jeez, seriously? Wind power is "much worse than nuclear"? Wind and solar are the future, old timer. There's no getting around it. We can't keep burying our nuclear waste in mountains and pretending like it'll never contaminate our environment. And I'm no scientist but I think the vast majority of us can agree that "fear of nuclear radiation" is absolutely, 100% founded. Go hug a spent fuel rod, Ted.

Letter: Bus should serve city

Downtown Lawrence would still be served by several bus routes in the event of a new hub. Most (all?) businesses downtown are against the bus hub being located there. They cite noise, exhaust and passengers loitering as the main problems. Moving the hub to a central/neutral location that was specifically designed for bus traffic would make more sense when serving the city as a whole.
