Letter: Move applauded

Congratulations Lawrence Journal World! This long-awaited policy change has already elevated the conversation in the community and has provided outsiders who regularly read the on-line edition a completely new (and positive) impression of Lawrence.

Bids for South Lawrence Trafficway come in low; work may begin by mid-October

Sapp has a Columbia, MO address and only a handful of employees there. That's where the old man who founded the company lived. The big office is in downtown KCMO. Last I knew, J.E. Dunn builds big buildings. Not highways.

Paul Davis makes it official: He's running for governor

Davis is a nice guy. And nice guys finish last. Which is exactly where he'll finish in the race for Governor. All the Liberal spouting in the world (in this, one of only two Dem counties in the entire state) will not elect Paul. He has absolutely Zero chance of serving as the Governor of the Great State of Kansas. Zero. Zilch.

Editorial: Cooperative effort

This Chamber is showing signs of being relevant again. It's been a long time. Many good decisions are being made and this is clearly one of them.

Charles Koch plans $200,000 media ad campaign in Wichita

More power to Mr. Koch. Earn your money the hard way: BY WORKING FOR IT. And spend it however you choose. I know that's not the mentality in the Socialist Republic of Douglas County, where income distribution is the predominant mentality.

Bid for recreation center comes in about $10 million lower than expected; questions grow over other cost estimates

Here Here! All the local doormats, unhappy and discontent experts in development projects swarm to this Rag to voice their distrust, disbelief and disdain for those who take Risk and who employ people and invest in projects locally. How dare these bids come in so ridiculously low! Perhaps the only downside of this entire project is this: who at City Hall is in charge of estimating project costs? He or she needs to be relieved of duty and the City should contract this responsibility to those who know what in the Hell they're doing!

Crown auto dealership wins Lawrence business of the year award

Ah, the ever-so-happy Lawrence citizenry. Always griping and moaning about something. Even a story like this one. Is anyone in the little 'burg happy? Content? Satisfied with anything?

City planners recommending denial of proposed Menard's store; Planning Commission to debate project Monday

Without question, the single most dysfunctional and delusional Planning Office in America. Continue the heavy tax burden on citizens of Lawrence and deny new sales tax dollars for city coffers. These people in City Hall should be indicted. They are complete failures.
