Bid for recreation center comes in about $10 million lower than expected; questions grow over other cost estimates
Here Here! All the local doormats, unhappy and discontent experts in development projects swarm to this Rag to voice their distrust, disbelief and disdain for those who take Risk and who employ people and invest in projects locally. How dare these bids come in so ridiculously low! Perhaps the only downside of this entire project is this: who at City Hall is in charge of estimating project costs? He or she needs to be relieved of duty and the City should contract this responsibility to those who know what in the Hell they're doing!

Crown auto dealership wins Lawrence business of the year award
Ah, the ever-so-happy Lawrence citizenry. Always griping and moaning about something. Even a story like this one. Is anyone in the little 'burg happy? Content? Satisfied with anything?

City planners recommending denial of proposed Menard's store; Planning Commission to debate project Monday
Without question, the single most dysfunctional and delusional Planning Office in America. Continue the heavy tax burden on citizens of Lawrence and deny new sales tax dollars for city coffers. These people in City Hall should be indicted. They are complete failures.

Amyx, Farmer, Riordan win election to Lawrence City Commission
I'm not close to politics at the local level, or national level for that matter. Just a working guy trying to pay the bills. But it seems to me that this Democracy thing is only a good idea if left wing weirdos win elections. Scary that nearly 5,000 people in this little burg believe Soden would be a good commissioner. They clearly don't know her. Just voted for her b/c she lives east of Mass Street or b/c she's a female. Lawrence dodged a bullet last night.

City Commission candidates disagree on how to serve homeless in downtown Lawrence
Of the six candidates, one would think Soden is closest to becoming homeless and should think much more seriously about the issue. I mean, her "business experience" is that of owning a pet sitting service. This lady has zero credentials to serve on Commission. Her level of impatience, inability to firmly grasp complex issues and utter lack of polish and maturity should automatically disqualify her from running for local office. Isn't Democracy wonderful?

Business-oriented political action committee gets big donations, endorses Chestnut, Farmer, Riordan in City Commission race
Finally! A group of informed citizens who want to see positive things happen in what is otherwise a very negative, unhappy city. The whiners and complainers (LAN and the League of Women Voters) had better get accustomed to the new reality. Your griping opposition to literally everything has met its match. Great job Lawrence United! Where, and to whom, can one contribute?

United Way reaches its campaign goal of $1.7 million
Unbelievable negativity on this newspaper site. People who, clearly, have nothing more to do than sit around and post nonsense like this. It's no wonder your town has the reputation of being filled with nothing more than an unhappy, bickering population. This newspaper exemplifies that unfortunate but accurate depiction. Whoever is calling the shots there should be ashamed. I don't even live there, but see it's a place I wouldn't want to call home. Jerks being jerks. What a place!

Chamber still considering major, private capital campaign; eco devo leaders hoping to get an assist from Phil Mickelson
Unbelievable ignorance, on a daily basis. Same group of unhappy, paranoid trolls making ridiculous remarks on topics they know virtually nothing about.
