$42 million Lawrence police facility and staffing needs could require both sales and property tax increases

As far as sewer goes, Lawrence is pretty bad,... That is a basic need that needs fixed, maybe you like crap coming out into your bathroom though I am not sure, I sure don't and the street I live on had to be dug up and have a sewer pipe fixed.

Sound Off: On streets with marked bike lanes (e.g. 15th, 19th) is it legal for two bicyclists to rid

probably your illegitimate son you never knew about.

I agree, some bicyclists are macho losers straight out of the frat house, don't mind them it's a waste of time, get on with your own thing and be safe.

As a bicyclist, I ride on the street when I need to (when there is not a good fairly wide path or sidewalk to bike on). When I do ride on the road, I obey traffic laws although I don't stop at stop signs when there are no cars in any direction whatsoever etc. When in traffic I always obey all laws.

I have been almost run over by a drunk drive once, been driven past by angry speedy drivers more than once, been yelled at with aggressive force for no reason by guys in trucks, been chased by dogs etc. (If you let your dog run loose and it comes at me, it might get a knock in the head, I like my feet and don't want to be bitten, but I avoid loose dogs on purpose so don't freak out people).

Because I do not want to die, I always wear a helmet and take it upon myself to avoid the road and any potential hazard as much as I can. Not because I am trying to be a good citizen, but because it is DANGEROUS and oftentimes people don't care about bicyclists.

There are many good drivers out there in Lawrence who appreciate bicyclists, to you I say Kudos and thank you.

I don't understand why, when AFTER the students left there seems to be a cop on patrol at every other block. Seriously, why do they ramp it up when students leave? They seem to have plenty of officers, at least out on patrol in the summer.

Sound Off: Is there a law concerning having a home business, such as a small-engine repair or lawn m

I have loud neighbors and I did nicely try to work something out. What happened? THEY were not halfway human, ignored me, tried to scare me, and ignored the pleas of another neighbor whose baby couldn't sleep at night because of them. Now there is so much tension that I wouldn't dare to try and talk to them again. All being nice got me is more tension than I wanted and a rude attitude. So it usually doesn't work. Of course one HAS to be nice before taking things to a further level (police etc.) One attempt at being nice is all you can do. After that it's take it to the city and try to deal with it.

I envision you letting anyone who wants to trample on your right to peace and quiet to roll right over you. I envision someone that has never had to deal with loud neighbors, tried to be nice to them, only to have them be extremely rude. I envision a pushover who is fairly naive.

Why hasn't anyone brought up the city noise ordinance? Any invasive noise at any time of day or night is against city ordinance. If your home is receiving invasive noise, you can call in a noise complaint and take further steps if necessary to secure your right to quiet. People you don't have to like it but it is the law. Get over it. I do freelance computer tech work and it's the most annoying thing in the world to have to listen to excessive noise when you are trying to work on computers. Is their right to make noise supercede my right to quiet? NO. Morally do they have more of a right to make noise and have freedom than I do? No. I want the freedom to work in peace and quiet, why would my needs be less than someone else's? I am not the one being invasive with loud noise.

Should access to a person's social media accounts be turned over to family members after he or she dies?

If anyone knows the person (five foot 8 brown scraggly beard) living out of a school bus in brook creek park area....

It has been well over one month that at least one person has been squatting out of an old beat up school bus with the words 'school' blackened out, in the brook creek park area, with their animals in tow. To be fair, five weeks is a generous amount of time to have been allowed to live out of your vehicle on a public street considering it is illegal. Please find another spot, please go to Mass st. if you want to panhandle, do not do it on our street, people in the neighborhood have witnessed this. You need to pull into a driveway of someone that you know at the very least. There is plenty of rentals available in the area for not a lot of money at all probably a few without security deposits even. I take pride in this neighborhood and it is time for you to move on. You have overstayed your welcome. Five weeks is a generous amount of time.
