Four-year Jayhawk Boulevard construction project could end with re-creation of old tree canopy, new center bike lane
Looks good. However, I dream of the day when the headline reads "Wescoe to be torn down."

Farm wives stake common ground for food education
After graduating from high school in rural Kansas and eventually making my way to Lawrence, I started to believe some of the propaganda put out by the anti-conventional farming folks in Lawrence. I eventually moved back to rural Kansas and now know that most Lawrence folks claiming knowledge on this topic really don't understand jack. Their generalizations are believed by people wanting to be against a style of farming that isn't their style.
Unless you live here, I don't think it is possible to understand it. I feel bad for Winsor and folks like her who are trying to counter the propaganda, because rural folks like us are outnumbered and the city folks refuse to believe anything outside their leftist agenda.

What Kansas taxpayers could expect under the governor's proposal
Of the scenarios given, it looks like the folks making $125,000 and over a million a year are paying more taxes in this plan. That'll really screw the folks who are surely going to say he's doing this for the benefit of the rich.

Abortion ban to be proposed in Kansas House
Yes. I would like to see the list of 25 legislators to thank them for supporting this measure. I'll never figure out why liberals would support protecting baby owls, but not human babies. Strange.

Wildcat sees the light, renounces all things purple, starts waving wheat
While I do enjoy rooting for specific sports teams, I'm personally starting to have a problem with getting my identity tied to a specific school and fandom of their sports. When I die, I don't want people to remember me by my purple or crimson (and I have both in my closet). I want to amount to a little more than that.
I know it is unpopular, but I will continue to support the improvement of both major universities in this state. At the core, improvement of both schools is majorly important to the future welfare of Kansas.
I've attended both schools and graduated from KU. Allen field house is historic and awesome. What Bill Snyder has done at K-State is historic and awesome. I'm just glad we live in a state where we can brag about both schools... not every state has that opportunity. Sports is entertainment and should stay in that realm. It should not consume our lives.
I'll love the day when people can get excited about a little more stories like this.

Snowy owls head south in search of food
Probably a Krider's Red-tailed Hawk, which is a light form of the common red-tail. A Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk can also be seen in Kansas, which is the dark form.

Lawrence in 1st Congressional District? Officials say no way
Never mind. LJW just posted the map, which splits the first and second in western Kansas. I'd be in the second, so my comments on the first don't really relate. Either way, the posted map is idiotic in many ways.

Lawrence in 1st Congressional District? Officials say no way
Oh gadzooks. I love the thought of negating the voting power of Lawrence liberals, but I sure as hell don't want to share my district with them. So no, they better not be included in my district.

What living person would you put on a postage stamp?
Two out of four choose Obama. Typical Lawrence.
