One person dead in early morning car accident in Riverfront Park in North Lawrence
My sympathy to his family & friends.
I'm glad no one else was injured which would have made a bad thing even worse.
I'm curious - does anyone know if DG county LE was advised of this vehicle entering the county?

It looks like his family did a really great job honoring his memory. My sympathy to his family and friends.

Searchers recover body of Tonganoxie man, 30, from Lone Star Lake in southern Douglas County
My sympathy to the family and friends of this man. I'd also like to say that I think the members of the dive team are brave people because it has to be really hard for them to be part of the search and recovery.

Town Talk: Something spooky coming to vacant Borders store; comedy, bum steers and elastic waistbands at 19th and Haskell; another big fight looming near the airport
The seasonal Halloween stores have been popping up every fall for several years now, and it doesn't seem to have drastically hurt business for Fun and Games yet. When I have been in Fun and Games to look for costumes, there are always a lot of people there. And, as gatekeeper points out, the seasonal Halloween stores sell a lot of Halloween merchandise that Fun and Games does not. My guess is that Walmart, Target, and Walgreens probably pose more competition to F&G than Halloween Express because Walmart, Target and Walgreens sell their costumes for half of what you can get them for at F&G.

Town Talk: Lawrence's slide down the rankings; West Lawrence recreation center to get discussed; a parade of leg warmers?
If Steve Guttenberg isn't available, I say let's go after Rick Moranis.

He probably googled it and was able to click through. I've never successfully found anything through the ljworld search engine.

Crimes against drug dealers increase in Lawrence
Here's what I got from the ljworld news today:
1. It's really hot outside
2. (from Wellcommons) heat makes people irritable
3. Being a drug dealer is a dangerous occupation
4. the sheriff might have to evict himself due to foreclosure
I love Lawrence.
