KU to choose among internal candidates for new vice provost job

Very well put. I do agree in part with the Delta Cost Project analysis but I hate when people take blanket generalities and apply it to every case. I f you read the Delta Cost Project in it's entirety you will also find that there was no blame associated with the disparate proportions of admin and instructor positions. It was an economic reality forced by the relatively fast reduction of public monies. Most institutions have self corrected and this is a now a minor issue.

Nice clip and paste but I do not see any direct analysis of KU's administrative costs. You've taken a blanket, industry wide summary and pointed a finger directly at KU without any evidence.

Would you care to expound on your financial analysis of the value of administration personnel as related to the influx of students and the undergraduate program?

KU planning to launch 15 new online programs over 5 years under new deal with startup company

I've been reading about the demise of brick & mortar institutions since the early 90's, yet college attendance continues to grow. An education is more than an isolated online learning experience, it's about social interaction, learning team work and developing people skills that cannot be learned online. That said, there is a need for more online education but more as a supplemental rather than a primary source of higher education. Masters and in some cases, doctoral programs, are good examples.

Big B, did you read the article? At $756/credit hour it is still more expensive than in-state tuition.

Homeless count numbers show few changes in Douglas County

A probation officer, sure (wink, wink). Even so, that is totally irrelevant to the situation.

Analysis: 2013 legislative session over; results will be judged by Kansas voters

I've lived in many states over my 50+ years and I have never seen an electorate as ignorant as those in Kansas. This states deserves every idiotic piece of legislation that has been passed. I'm also sure nothing will change with the mid term elections. Good luck Kansans, you need it.

Proposed cuts to corrections system could endanger Kansans, secretary says

You elected these clowns, Kansas. Now you must live with them. The sad thing is that they will be elected next term as well.
