Capitol Report: Drug testing for state benefits; Landwehr lands state job; Brownback changes tune on EITC
Keep in mind: Drug testing hurts the children of addicted parents. Innocent children will go without food and shelter because their addicted parents couldn't pass a urine analysis. Those kids didn't choose their parents, so we have to ask ourselves if we are OK with them suffering for the mistakes of their parents when we require drug testing.

Former Kansas inmate who killed 3 in DUI accident has parole revoked
This is the face of addiction: Someone near you, who is a lot like you, who maybe goes to your church or even teaches at your kid's school. How can she DO this after KILLING before??? This is how: She's not in control of herself the way that you non-addicted people are in control of yourselves. How sick in the head would YOU have to be to do what she did? Pretty sick in the head, right? That's her: Sick. When adequate funding isn't available for treatment, ordinary - but sick - people make these choices over and over again, until they find a way to get the help they need, or die from their addiction, or die in jail.

City to recycle old trash cans
My cart was put out the evening of the 15th, with an "X" on every side. It's still here. What happened to the 11/16 pickups?

Lawrence High English teacher $10,000 richer, thanks to guys named Bob
Mike is a great guy, and is probably best described as OVERQUALIFIED as an instructor. I wasn't at all surprised to see him get this award.

You haven't lived until you've done a 360 at 70 mph.
I would love to hear an update on the injured lady's condition.

What is the most dangerous experience you have had with fireworks?
Well... that would be the pipe bomb we made in 1983. Got arrested and spent the evening of July 4th chained to a table, being interrogated by an FBI agent. He mostly laughed through the interview. That was way before 9/11.

What’s the most you’d be willing to pay for a college education?
For the record: I did not get in a fight.
That was taken at the Dillon's on Mars.
