Kansas Rep. Virgil Peck apologizes for illegal immigrant, feral hogs remark

I'll repost over here. I couldn’t find a direct link, but here’s Rep. Peck’s purported quote from 2006 about shooting dogs.

“My frustration from what I understand about this bill, if you have a dog that you cannot keep it in your proximity or you just decide you want to kill it or dispose of it, country people we just take ‘em out and shoot ‘em.”

“I’ve been known in the past, after several attempts, to just dispose of the dog one way or the ‘nother, well I’m concerned that this may be far reaching, that the fellow, the neighbor gets upset cause his dog comes up missing, I don’t know what happened to it, well I actually do, but, so that’s a little concern I have as a country boy. You know I’m not the one that’s ‘spose to be asking questions you folks are.”

Remember a few years back when Rep. Peck was talking about shooting dogs? I'll try to find the link.

I wonder if battered staff is better than breaded staff.

‘Green tag’ purchase totals nearly $8,600

Wait a minute. Bowersock urged the city to purchase the green tags. The green tags were purchased from the Bonneville Energy Foundation, which sells a green tag product called Zephyr Energy, which is hydro power generated by Bowersock. It makes sense to me.

New law may lower alternative energy costs

"but the KCC turned them down last year on their tariff application."

Just my two cents, they got turned down on purpose. They needed to satisfy the Sierra Club settlement provision and gave it the ol' college try.

Everyone favors net metering, which can mean many different things depending on how the tariff is designed, because it's an easy term to lache onto. My understanding is that no one has down an assessment of whether the new net metering bill is more favorable to customers than the current parallel generation law. But parallel generation doesn't sound cool, so it doesn't matter I guess.

Parkinson sworn in as Kansas Governor

There is one appointment that Sebelius promised she would make before she was ever nominated. She failed to make it before leaving. I can see no reason for Parkinson to honor that promise, and I can see no reason why Sebelius would not have followed through.

I apologize, but I have not followed this and don't see the bill number in the article. Is the bill specific to Lawrence?

Kansas wind industry booming

"Exactly how much is it costing me?"

I'm not sure about how much it costs you, personally, but it's estimated that the 2008 PTC was a $42 billion subsidy.
